Now that Black Flag has been announced, there will be 6 Assassin's Creed games out there. A lot of people disliked the first one, but if you were to recommened an entry to skip for a new comer, which one would it be? The story might make it worth revisiting some of the old ones even though the gameplay doesn't quite hold up when compared to the new ones.

I personally have played only 1 & 2 so I'm considering skipping Brotherhood and Revelations and moving on straight to III and eventually IV. Do you think I should skip those two games?

i think you should do the opposite in fact. skip 3 and play brotherhood and revelations. if you've already played 2 then that means you've started the story of Ezio already. and brotherhood and revelations continue that story. overall i would say play all of them if you can, cuz they are all great games.but i would say AC3 is the worst one in the series. still a fun game though cuz AC games are just fun in their own right.

the main character is probably the worst part of the game, after playing as such a charismatic, awesome character like Ezio that is so full of personality, i don't know wtf they were thinking with the AC3 main character. and the frontier tree running stuff gets boring after like 10 minutes, the towns are small in comparison. and i feel that is what AC games are all about, the city environment and stealthily running from rooftops and stuff feeling like a badass.

alot of these replies are going to contradict each other lol i would say skip brotherhood and pick up 3, brotherhood literally was a expansion pack i found it pretty annoying. revelations was better from a gameplay standpoint and the city was a nice change of pace. Im only a few hours into 3 its alot slower to develop then the previous titles but im enjoying it the most

I didn't really like Brotherhood. It was alright, but nothing memorable about it.

None is worth skipping for each has some interesting things to add to the franchise and several different things that several different people may like

I hated the first and had no interest in playing the others after that one. Went against my better judgement and played the 2nd and loved it. Brotherhood was enjoyable as well. Didn't play revelations because I was getting burnt out on them at the time. Heard its good though. Bought 3 super cheap when it was released, its trash and it felt like playing the first one again. Forced myself through it and sold it right away which I rarely do with games

The Ezio Trilogy is the best of the AC series. AC2 and Brotherhood are better than Revelations, but overall those three are fantastic games. I still haven't even finished ACIII....really sad since I was hoping the game to be amazing.

Personally, I'd skip the original Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed III. One is a good game that's plagued with repetitive gameplay and an awful notoriety system (Assassin's Creed) while the other is a okay game with identity crisis, boring protagonist, and disappointing conclusion to the "trilogy"'s story (Assassin's Creed III).

The Ezio Trilogy is only worth playing in my opinion.

Yep this. Not a fan of where they're taking the series.

I'll have to say the first one. Just read up on what happens. I skipped the first and started at AC2, but I was kind of lost, though I failed to read up on the first game. I did go back and play it, and it wasn't that bad, just not up to where the rest of the games are.

I voted for the first one but I would maybe skip Brotherhood also. I have personally only played AC2 and AC3 but have been thinking to get Revelations. I have a few other games to play and others that I still want to get so I'm not sure if I'll get it or not, depends if I can find a good deal on a copy or not.

Definitely play the first, because, well... there's a lot happening in the beginning of the series. Of course, you'll want to play the second, since it still remains the best of the series. Brotherhood was a more fine-tuned game, but its tweaks actually made the game too easy, and this is echoed with Revelations. Revelations had some other issues, such as too much emptiness and a bomb-making mechanic that wasn't put to great use. Plus, there's those awful tower defense missions. ACIII is worth playing because of all the new things it does in the series, but it does have its own share of faults such as a very slow beginning and a plethora of glitches. So in short, the only installment you really need to skip is Revelations.

III is sadly the worst of the group in my opinion. I would skip it for sure if it had to be just 1. I really like the others, but III just sucks imo... I tried to like it, I really did, but it just felt forced and out of place. When the first two hours of the game is the best part and it goes downhill from there, that is never a good thing. I would suggest steer clear of this title.
