So many movies made into games, why?

I just don't get it! They make all those crappy movies games and so many of them. In the next 2 months all we are going to get is games based on movies:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
2. Surfs Up
3. Transformers
4. Shrek The Third
5. Harry Potter...what is it? 6-7???

Why didin't they made a game out of 300 for the PS3?  that game would have rocked.

Opinions?

Lower quality is probably cheaper development, that is step one.  Step two is that thing I mentioned earlier.

Well...Spiderman 3 for 1 made box office sales in its first day I believe.  Another point to continue with the game also.
