I have not been keeping up with PS3 as much as I used to. Are they breaking? If I buy a beloved PS3 can I count on it working for a while? Thanks :)

No issues. I'd had my PS3 running for months and no shutdowns/overheats/nadda.

It just amazes me every time I think ofhow Sony has made such an well technological advanced piece of equipment that hardly ever if at allbreaks. I am a true360 fan, but I can't say the same for my 360 :( Anyways to answer your question, the PS3's are holding up very well...and it doesn't sound like a jet taking off either while playing games.

Mine is in great condition. The odd freeze here and there is nothing. Its playing great and worth every dollar that i spent on it. Looking forward to its future, looking also to pick up some games and go broke this year :| ...

I have not heard of any PS3 troubles, but also I wouldn't believe most of the 360 problems, me and 5 of my friends have had our 360s for well over a year and none of us have had any problems. Both systems are great and well made.

I've been running my PS3 24/7 ever since Folding@Home became available to download. Whenever I'm notplaying a game or watching a movie, it's running folding@home. So far I haven't had any problems with it.

Dude that said he doesn't beleive the 360 mess up, I know your fronting. If you have friends on XBOX Live, I'm pretty sure some of them had 360's that messed up. I had two mess up. I had one standing up on carpet, it fell over on it's side (slowly on soft carpet) and it was **** I had one that worked one night, and then when I woke up the next morning it was **** I got both of those early on, the last one I had worked fine. Think about it, they even made up a name for the error signal 360 gave off. That's how you know it messed up alot.

My PS3 on the other hand has been working perfectly fine. I was worried at first due to Sony's reputation, but I haven't had any problems. I don't even know what PS3's do when they mess up. There's definately no "Ring of Doom" or whatever.

Says PS3 is has less than a 1% failure rate which is incredible if true. I love my 360 but damn the thing has horrible reliability. Mine was shipped out to MS over two weeks ago and i still haven't got it back yet.

No problems or anything after using it since January. It froze on me just once, which was yesterday while playing Oblivion. But I reset it and it was fine again.

The PS3 is built to last for years. A nice solid peace of technology.

I've had the 3 red lights twice on the same console, first time I unplugged everything, then replugged, and it worked fine. The second time I just turned it off and back on and it worked fine again.

But that PS3 failure rate is rather shocking.

I work in IT and frankly a ~2% failure rate is rather standard. It just can't be avoided, sadly (keeps me in a job though! :P ).

As for my PS3, no real problems. My controller kinda wigs out in short bursts ( maybe 1-2 seconds) every now and again, but it's easy to simply buy a second controller adn frankly it hasn't really been bad enough for to do even that. Other than that, the system itself is rock solid!

my ps3 been on since hmmmmmmmmmm days lol, runing on games , then folding @home i cant even rememebr when i let it rest, i think its almost 21 days now since i had it rest, and still runs fine, my room has A.C so the ps3 is always cool, and its in a ventalated area and it never even gets warm on the left side anymore thanks to my new A.C lol
