what are they doing to this beautiful series?

"RE4 started in that direction, and RE5 kept going in that direction. And I think that especially for the North American market, we need to keep going in that direction, and take that astepfurther. And that's exactly one of the reasons that [3DS game] Revelations is the way it is."-Masachika Kawata.

They're turning it in to action horror. No more survival horror. That genre is too scary for the masses.. And because the western audience lean more towards action. I don't blame'em.. Gotta go where the money is. I was surprise Racoon City got such bad reviews.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion. RE5 not so much, but it was because they didn't know if they making an atmospheric horror game or an action packed shooter. And the controls didn't really play to the strengths of either. I don't know but that trailer of RE6, I'm really excited for it, it looks they're splitting the difference between action and horror.

It's all to do with the money Bro, I'll get Resident evil 6, but just for the action, not expecting horror, in terms of Horror, Silent Hill will demolish resident evil now.

As long as they streamline the controls (something more like Binary Domain, which was actually fun) and come up with a halfway playable inventory system, I don't mind this.

But since it's obvious they're only condescending to their overseas audience, I have feeling it will only get worse. I don't like the way the characters are becoming more and more over-the-top macho either.

I was just happy to see some actual zombies return in RE6. At least they looked like zombies to me. :P

I look towards Resident Evil 6 with interest! I'm sad to see that the survival-horror elements are slowly being removed. This I find very unfortunate. I did not like the new direction of Resident Evil 4, but the game was enjoyable. I just bought Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City ; I love it! It is not within the canon thus these freedoms they take feel justified. I wish they would create a sequel or prequel to "Code Veronica" in that style, because that game is one of the greatest!

It's sad to see survival disappear more and more but I do still love me some Resident Evil. 4 was awesome(I have it on GC, PS2, Wii, and PS3, lol) and enjoyed 5 quite a bit as well(not as good as 4 though, still need to play the DLC sometime). Horror only really survives on the PC now with games like Amnesia and Penumbra. Hopefully we'll see some hit PSN at least. I Am Alive looks decent, waiting for that to hit PSN.

I know. :( I'm disappointed too. I loved Resident Evil games from the past as they were really survival horror. Resident Evil 5 is just action which it shouldn't. I blame Call of Duty...

It is sad, Resident Evil 2 is still one of my all time favourite games, but again, its all about the money, we either be happy with where the series is going, or we don't buy it and stop getting Resident Evil games altogether. Its just business in the end.

Sad but true....as with any platform once something starts to make money the core fan base have to take a back seat to the masses.

We won't see a real final fantasy game again either
