So whats in store for PS3 next?

Now that MGS4 is out and apparently not the holy grail of games it was supposed to be, what does the PS3 have as back up?

Don't get me wrong i know it got outstanding scores, just didnt seem to get the "worth buying a PS3 for" scores it needed.

Now i only have a 360 (don't yell at me, i just prefer it) so i know little about upcoming PS3 titles. Is there some upcoming exclusive i don't know about that should restore Sony to its former greatness?

Though saying that i cant think of the next 360 game coming out that im bursting at the balls to play.....but then the 360 isn't in the same situation as the PS3, a LOT of people already have it.

i don't know about everyone else, but personally i'm looking forward to FF13 and FFversus 13 the most after mgs4, followed by god of war 3, killzone 2, resistance 2 and white knight story

MGS4 is a special type of game and only certain people will like it. It is a system seller but only to a certain range of people.

The next big game I think will be LittleBigPlanet along with resistance 2 and FFXIII

I hadnt heard of Little Big Planet. I thought it coulda (and shoulda) been a sequel to little big adventure lol God i loved that game! Am i right in thinkin its kinda like viva pinata?

At least we can all look forward to things like Dead Space, Alone in the Dark and Resi 5 :D

Guess ud have to be a PS3 owner to realise how biased most sites are against the PS3 and its exclusive titles. Currently MGS4 has a metacritic score of 93 which is pretty darn good considering all the biased reviews that the title has gotten/no doubt will get (I am expecting GS to give it a score of 8 or less).

Regardless the PS3 does not need titles as "back up". It can stand on its own as it is and MGS4 has just made its standing alot firmer. If u want exlusives then names every1 shud know such as FF, GoW, GT shud ring a bell. There are many other promising new sequels to new IPs that are also scheduled to be released but everything below a 95 on metacritic it seems is not worthy of a purchase due to the fact that its on the PS3 but I digress. Case in point Unchared but w/e.

Resistance 2 will no doubt be good, though I'm not expecting too muc from KZ2. GT5 and FF will be godly.

I did a LOT of research and borrowed my friends PS3 for a week to get a taste of it. And I want to tell you that there is NEVER been a better time to get a PS3 then RIGHT NOW. (I was a big fan of ps1 and ps2 but im far, far from biased. - I currently have a 360 and 25,000+ gamerpoints..im a level 50 in TS on Halo 3 and just love games. Ive had a 360 since launch, my gamertag is tdi swift)

but let me tell you this, there is not a single game on the xbox 360 or ANY system that is as good as Metal Gear Solid 4. I've already put 11 or 12 hours into it since midnight last night and man...it is AMAZING. I was a huge fan of MGS of PS1 (MGS and FF7 are two of my all-time favorite games). The other thing that I love about the PS3 is just that it can do SO MUCH. I can browse the web, plus SOO many different USB ready things into it (IPOD, Camera, ect) and play online for free (although, Xbox live is a much better experience as of right now)

There is another cant miss game available though, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Since I didnt have a Ps3 i never even heard of the game until my buddy let me borrow it, and it is an extremely good game. Don't know about system seller, but its a cant miss for all PS3 owners.

Now to my main point....why is this the best time to buy a PS3? Hmm...well, just go to walmart and get the 80 GIG Metal Gear Bundle for $500.....and then take off the $100 that they give you with a gift card and for $400 you get a PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 4 and an 80 Gig Harddrive.

AMAZING deal.

I still think i'll play my 360 more (because all my friends have it...and if the same game is on 2 systems, i'd rather play it on 360 cause achievements are fun)...but God Of War, FInal Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid are waaaaaay too good to miss.

I havent signed online yet with my PS3, but when I do i'll give you my name. I want to beat the single player before I start it up, but then i'll show you how its done ;)

Play MGS4 for a hour or two,and you will find how brilliant that game is.
Anyway every thinking person,who can do something else than shoot,should get FF XIII or/and FF XIII-versus(in case if you arent a RPG hater).GT5 is a must get,even if you arent the kind of racer.It has perfect visual,brilliant career and advancing system,tons of cars and so on.So its alot of fun even if you dont like racing much.Little Big Planet is definately a good way to have fun and just relax.Home is a good thing to have-meet friends,play with them,have fun and relax.By knowing that you are a former x-box owner,resistance 2 is a good thing to get yourself.And for racing and adrenaline rush motorstorm 2 is something.And offcourse Killzone 2 is something to wait,it can be a real owner game,but it may be nothing special too.

Thats what i suggest.Just buy aps3.2-3 games will be enough to have you sitting next to your TV for long time :)

We all knew somebody was going to come in and say this, so I'll volunteer. I couldn't care less about MGS, I'm actually relieved it's finally out so we can talk about something else. Don't get me wrong I respect it, which is why you'll be hard pressed to quote me talking smack on the subject, but you MGS fans are completely obsessed.

Now we can move on to why I picked PS3 over it's competitors, variety. I want RE5, FFXIII, God of War3, and LBP for a start. Then I just want the PS3 train to keep on rolling!

Yeah i think your right.

IMO i think MGS4 deserves sales on the same level as gta and halo(infact more since i like mgs more than halo/gta), but those games cater to a wider range of tastes, some people find stealth action a bit boring(even though MGS4 has fps mode you really cannot just run and gun well maybe you could on easy) and some people think the story is complicated and long winded, personally i like the complicated story(best stories in any frnachise ever IMO) but i dont like Kojima's over the top "jokes" it draws you out a little bit, for instance in MGS4 Kojima takes a shot at dvd-9 at one point and it has nothing to do with the story so why do it, im trying to get sucked into this world and things like that take you out, well i guess some people like that stuff.

Konami/Kojima have tried really hard to make MGS4 more appealing to the mainstream and i hope it works but i still dont think it will get the sales its deserves IMO.

A title like Little Big Planet could be a big one going off todays casual market, if your talking in terms of a title selling allot of systems which i got the feeling you were.

IMO games like Resistence 2 and motorstorm 2 could be the games we hoped for first time round, i personally liked motorstorm although it was shallow MS2 is looking promising after wtahcing the PS day event from london on psn today, Resistence 2 also is looking like it will be the amazing game we were hoping for with 1 RFOM was a good game but not a great game IMO, im pleased the 60 player battles will be broken up and concentrated on team work, i personally found from multiplayer a bit stale and more players does not mean better in my book, i prefer intimate tactical battles and ted price used those excat words when i watched the playstation event today on psn.

Im hoping killzone 2 will be the awesome game we are all expecting but i think it has a few problems(its still a way off yet so these can be fixed) mainly the AI and poor level design in terms of objectives, for instance a video i seen(this was also mentioned in several previews) the objective was to move onto the next area, it said find a rocket launcher and take out a wall, well the rocket launcher was sitting right next to the wall and that was it, there were several things like that in one mission, it could be done better, for instance an enemy holds advantage position near the entrance to the next area and you and your team will have to fight hard and strategicly to advance through that area, im sure a game dev can think of something better but that was just an off the top of my head example.

Infamous is a title we know little about but that first trailer has me excited for more.

White knight story is another game im excited to see more off although the combat looked stale but the dev said allot of the combos and what not were not in the build being shown so obviously theres more than what was shown.

Final Fantasy 13 is a game we know nothing about and is probably still along way off, i would expect to be playing ff13 anytime soon, i have no interest in versus 13.

God of war 3: need i say more hopefully be released in 09(im just guessing though).

Gran Turismo 5, hopefully prolouge was just a minor percentage of what GT5 will be like and im sure it will i just hope they improve driver AI and add some damage modeling(not bothered about cosmetic damage but damage that affects the way your car drives, that will stop idots online from using you as a braking point)

Thats enough to be excited about ps3 from the exclusive front, also if things like home turn out well PS3 has allot of promising features and exclusives, not to mention 3rd party games like:

Resident Evil 5/Brothers in arms/prince of persia/far cry 2 and many other games i cannot be bothered to list, now back to playing or watching Metal Gear Solid 4(i enjoy watching metal gear cut scenes, just incase anybody took that as a diss).

Not a single game should get a perfect score, otherwise it'd be like saying this game doesn't need any improvments. I haven't seen such a game so far. And by the way in about 20 yeas or so, GameSpot only gave ONE perfect score of 10/10. I guess the next one isn't anytime soon.

I really don't understand the point saying that X game is the next big thing and is it worth it? Granted some games are better than others, but if you are just going to sit around and wait for "triple A" titles on the ps3 let alone any platform, you are going to have to wait a long time. Everybody always puts the ps3 to a much higher standard than anything else. If you like a game get it, it doesn't make that much of a difference what other people buy. Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 are ones that are supposed to be "big". Motorstorm 2 seems like a well needed expansion off the first one and could appeal to good number of people with 4 player splitscreen racing and so on. For online gaming there is Socom, which will use voice chat and things other people have been complaining about.

Also what do you mean by lackluster scores? It has gotten above 9 everywhere so far. Ninja Gaiden 2 was somewhat of a let down as well. Nothing was added to enhance the gameplay, the same graphics and camera issues as Ninja Gaiden Sigma with no mission mode. some scores were even as low as 7 for that game so shut up.

Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a title that exceeds all of the hype that was attached to the title.

Your problem is highlighted in RED.

I haven't tried many PS3 games yet, but I will say that I recently found that the Socom games look amazing when everything is set to progressive scan instead of just using interlaced. At that setting they look almost as good as a PS3 game. Next I will be trying COD and MOH later just to see how they compare.

As for Socom there is two of these games in the works for the PS3 the first will be on-line only and the one coming later will have single player and on-line game play. Then add all the exclusives on the way plus the little downloadable games from PSN this just adds up to a huge number of games for the PS3.

Somebody probably mentioned this earlier, if that's the case i didn¨t read the whole pages, but i think u should look at the list of games being introduced in E3 convention. That's about when u get info about many upcoming games for this year.

So you've played it then? I'm only halfway through the second act but so far it's amazing. When I went to gamestop to pick it up I saw a lot of people in line holding the MGS4 80gb bundle so It's definitely selling systems.
