The trophies accociated with 2.40 are 2D representations, not the 3D representations to come with Home. It's possible that they are connected, but the firmware does not require Home to have the 2D form of trophies.

We're also happy to officially report that the 2.40 system software update for PS3 will include "XMB" access in-game. The update will also include "trophies," an exciting new feature that we'll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements. Home's nowhere in sight yet,and i should imagine we will have to wait at least another month now for firmware 2.40,seeing as we just got 2.36.Let's just hope that doesn't get further delayed cos it's a real pain having to come out of games to read friends messages.
