I rather have a SP game over a MP game any day.Story is one of the main reasons i play games for. Also I don't always have my PS3 connected to the internet and its a little to much work to even connect it. FF6fan
plug one wire in...and create an account is too much??
most of my memorable and favourite game experiences came from single player games. Mario, Sonic, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, God of War, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, GTA. Multiplayer is just fun, but single player provides an awesome and sometimes memorable experiences of a story.

Well said. I completely agree.
I think the single player gameplay is the most important part of any game. Except maybe CoD4 cause although the single player was good multiplayer is way better. However my favourite recent game is Assassin's Creed and no multiplayer there. I actually think that multiplayer games are far to overrated. To me the most improtant part of most games is the local multiplayer because I like to chirp my buddies while I beat them to a pulp in which ever game I choose :P

Move my ps3 from my big tv down to my smaller tv, find and connect ethernet, call cable company to reset ip, and then after i'm done i have to call again to reset my ip. I have an account just not work the hassle of all that to play a measily hour online.I like the story mode which, in most cases, is the single player mode.
Multiplayer, to me, is where you get braggin rights and hang out with your buddies. Though games like Army of Two let you online co-op with a friend through the story mode. Which is also a lot of fun.
I get bored with games that have no story in their single player mode. I just don't feel compelled to keep moving forward in the game.

You my friend speak the truth. though I enjoy MP games, to me nothing can compare to a great adventure game like Zelda ocarina of time.

Not everybody has / wants / needs broadband.I am not one for online gaming, I do it every now and again just to change things up but for me story and character development are the most important thing in a game. I will take a offline RPG over a online one any day.tidanyeah. Like he said.
Shadows of the Colossus made any decision all but too clear. :)SymphonycomethIf Secret of Mana was the multi-player game it was supposed to be, I'd be all over it.
No poll since people have a little habit of not at least voicing their opinion when they can simply vote and leave.Symphonycometh
The only games I buy are single player or at least focused on single player with the exception of fighting games.
Save for online co-op, online gaming means nothing to me. I enjoy playing online co-op with my best friend, but it's still just the campaign we're playing, and not online deathmatches.
Online gaming, it just does nothing for me. I don't care about the competition, nor do I care to be screamed at by someone who hasn't even hit puberty yet.
To be honest, if games stopped including online play, I wouldn't shed a single tear. I would look at it as the best thing for me personally, because developers would have to deliver better single player games, as opposed to taking so much development time to include an online component.
I just want to kick back and enjoy a great story and great gameplay. If we ever get to a point in gaming where online gaming completely takes over and does away with single player story driven games, that's when I'll stop playing games. Not that I think that's going to happen, I'm just saying.
For the record, it's not that I never play online, it's just very rare. I play the occasional bout of Resistance, Warhawk and Motorstorm, but I quickly go back to playing single player. I truly wouldn't miss it (online play) if it wasn't there.
Also, a game doesn't have to be story driven, as I still love playing racers, PSN titles, and the occasional sports game. It's single player gaming in general that does it for me.
So, in case it wasn't obvious enough, I still care about single player games.;)

Maybe its not that simple for him I know its not for me I have to carry my TV into the PC room then unplug the it and shut off the Internet then pull out an extension cord to plug my PS3 into or else it will blow a fuse then log in SOO much work when you just want to relax and play a game or two after school/work.
Ah Symphony, I feel like you have disappeared for a while. (Let us hope that the last sentence doesn't create a very awkward silence.)
I have gone online a few times before, it wasn't that great, to be quite honest. I felt like the entire thing was just too busy for me. Story, character development, the personal feeling you begin to form with a game, that is truly the real desire that I want when playing a game. Not that I'm just playing to beat some whiny 12 year old boys butt.
I do, I don't play games online.Prinze
i only play certin pc games online. i really need to get off dial up but until then, i highly care if games have single player, its the main deciding factor. Games like LBP kinda steer me away but at the same time I'd really like to buy it.
I just dont see point in playing single player games, dont see any real competition, its just not as exciting as online.GootHimpWell maybe if you just stopped playing so many shooters...
MY favorite games are actually really single player only, Final Fantasy:Cc, MGS (Series), GoW(series), jak and daxter, ratchet and clank.
Single player shows what the game is about, it displays a challenge and you must get around them. They for the most parthave a engaging story. Not to mention single playing killing is more fun then multiplayer. I was just playing GoW now and love taking on many baddies at once, multiplayer this cant happen (unless its like R1, r2 or upcomnig mag.)
I love multiplayer games aswell, i mean socom is fun as hell, and killzone looks great (however killzone storyline is also great and ill be loving the single palyer).
all in all there both good, but i think single player really shines the game for what its worth...anyone can do multiplayer, not everyone can do singleplayer well (and thats why i dislike geow)
