I'm still really surprised that the 20gig PS3 is discontinued when it could do everything that the 60gig can do except without chrome trim.

Were people forgetting that the PS3, unlike the 360, uses open formats. For the PS3 you can insert any notebook hard-drive and your hard-drive would've been upgraded. If you needed wifi, just by a usb wifi device. If you needed flash memory support, just buy a usb flash memorry thing. It's not like you're forced to buy stuff made by Sony unlike for the 360.

Well, my reasons are, firstly, is 40gb more than the 20gb meaning I can save allot more games and vids before having to buy a new HDD. Secondly, I like the silver trim of the 60gb version. I think is very classy. :D

i did buy the 20 gig because no use of the memory card slots. but i wish i bought the 60 gig just for the silver trim. still love my all black ps 3 though. i also bought the 20 gig because i only had 650 dollars so i got that and a game and still had 20 bucks left to by a ps 2 game.

I bought the 60GB because of Wi-Fi and the card reader. I take alot of pics of my kids and it's nice to be able to gather around the TV and show everyone pictures in HI DEF the to crowd around the computer and look at them. Wireless is the best also!!! I have no lag and am at a constant 98% conectivity.

Buying all that extra stuff would probably be nnear equal to or more than the $100 difference between the two versions, so I figured why not just buy the big one

Yep. Built in WiFi was the big selling point for me. Also, the extra 40GB of storage space was a nice bonus. My 360's 20GB drive filled up pretty quickly.

Yea, for the Wifi, the amount of mem had no effect on it (i put in a 160 Gig first thing after i took it out of the box), but i wish i could have the all black with the Wifi, that would be gnarly

My honest opinion?

Sony only really shipped the 60GB version, so it should come to no shock that's the one that one they continued to make.

Considering this topic started out as a "PS3 is better than 360 because..." topic, it really belongs in System Wars. But since you asked...for the amount of money, the 60 gb version was the better value for more people. People looking toward the future bought it for the WiFi, card readerand larger hard drive. Those focused more on what they need right now or only what they could afford bought the 20gb.
