I mean the game is really all about online play and with PSN being down it just has to kill the sales numbers.
The game came out or shipped on the 19th and the network went down on the 20th....talk about terrible timing.

but it wasnt all sonys fault. if it wasnt for those damn b@st@rds who had to hack away, but yea i do agree that it might have to do with PSn being down. cuz ppl rather buy some SP games to keep em busy till psn is up. matter fact i wouldnt buy ANY game lol until psn is up. well maybe i would if its only SP kinda gamesJoKeR_421
I'm not mad at Sony for it I'm just saying that the game launched at a really bad time.

i know lol, and i was just saying it wasnt their fault, if they knew im pretty sure the game probably would been pushed back a week or so.I played the Beta, the online is bad. If anything PSN being down is a saving grace, because now it'll take weeks before anyone who didnt play the beta realises the game sucks.kieranb2000
I don't think that most people agree with you. From what I have been readingthe old school fans are unhappy but most people seem to like it's online play.
The game did get screwed IMO. I bought it, played couple matches online then PSN went down. PSN been down for pretty long I traded in Socom 4 already just so I could pick up Black Ops for Xbox 360 because I wanted to play a shooter online. I atleast kept the resistance 3 beta voucher so thats cool :)

I agree with you. The beta was not only bland and boring in design but it was also very nearly unplayable due to lag, hit detection issues, and some seriously awful spawn trapping. Socom is dead and PSN being down has nothing to do with it. That 66 metascore might, though.

i agree with him online is terriable on that game theirs way to many laggy matches and like ur whole fight is where u spawn atI mean the game is really all about online play and with PSN being down it just has to kill the sales numbers.

This game was screwed way before it ever landed in the hands of consumers.Well I can't say if the online is "BAD" or not because I have yet to play it.
I can say that if you are a socom vet your opinion of the game is biased and shouldn't really be considered by people who have not played the past Socom games.
It's kind of funny because so many people who played the beta and posted on youtube really liked it. The vets did not but like I said people who had not played the past ones seemed to like it for the most part.
Being honest I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the single player but from what I have read this far the multiplayer is a lot better. I will have to wait and see for myself if Sony ever gets PSN fixed.
Still I think a lot of people passed because of the PSN drama.
i got the game on day one, and i liked the SP very much. had a blast with it. im on my second play through and im on elite mode and i cant wait to plat this game lol....i played one game of co-op it was actually fun, i wish psn didnt go down, but oh well. i played a lil of multiplayer as well and it wasnt laggy till the last day before psn went down, i think around the 20th i believe. im assuming it was cuz of the psn being shut down and what not. i liked the beta, i rarely encountered any lags, and in the final game they fixed most of the issues that the beta had. anyways , overall its a good 3rd person shooter with decent story, has co-op which is addicting and i hope by the time psn comes up alot of ppl will be getting this.

The game didn't launch at a bad time, PSN was hacked at a bad time... I agree though it has definitely killed the sales and i have seem people post that they won't buy it until PSN is back up.Yeah all the veterans are whining and moaning about it "Changing too much" when the simple fact is if it hadn't changed at all they'd still complain "It's a rehash, milkage shovelware game!". Which is actually quite funny because the gaming industry is now thriving on the mass market rather than small pockets of hard to please gamers who think they are the reason the world spins.Well I can't say if the online is "BAD" or not because I have yet to play it.

I've been playing SOCOM since the first one. No, it's not like the other ones, but it's still fun and still feels like SOCOM. And if you're complaining about spawn points, play Classic. That's where the online shines, cause it makes it feel like SOCOM. Stop whining about how much the game has changed, if you didn't like it you didn't like it. Get over it, cause there's nothing you can do.
Not just Socom 4. If you go to Sony's website and take a look at the last blog post on the 19th, some poor company was running a PSN based launch for some new video game. The system went down only hours after their post.
Lots of games are played online. Everyone with a PS3 that wants to play online is suffering. A lot of people were saying they were disappointed with the Socom 4 beta.. That hurt the games sales more than PSN being down.I mean the game is really all about online play and with PSN being down it just has to kill the sales numbers.

Socom 4 only hurt itself. Its a horrible game imo. COD is where its at.Socom 4 got screwed by messing with the fans of the franchise. Socom was the multiplayer game to play on PS2, now look where it is...
I really don't think SOCOM 4 was as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's not as good as the first three, but it's not the worst game ever or anything.Canuck3k
I have been playing the single player and it's ok. I can see the miltiplayer being really fun. That said opinions from you Socom vets are pretty worthless imo.
You guys are so biased that your opinion is watered down and pretty much worthless to new players.
If you enjoy the game and have fun playing it, have fun that's awesome.
Our opinions may not mean much to you, but if I was Zipper I bet they realize now that we didn't buy their trash video game and had they stuck to what made socom actually socom, they'd have raked in millions of dollars more.

Agreed. It bothers me that Zipper removed features from the old Socom games just to make it appeal to casual players. Socom used to be so much better. It had servers, pistols, custom games, lean, the grenade arc, and more. Socom 4 is just another shooter, old Socom was the best multiplayer game on Sony's console.

It's nothing personal at all, it's just that you guys have an idea of what Socom is supposed to be based off of the past games and so you expected something different than what you got. I really think that a lot of fans would have liked it if it's name were something other than "Socom".
I never really played any of the original socom's, and was planning on checking this game out. With the PSN down though, I haven't been able to play a beta/demo, so I haven't even thought about dropping any cash on it. So atleast in my experience, the psn going down has screwed me from looking at socom.

I remember weeks ago I was advising you to give Socom 4 MP a chance, I can't believe you still haven't been able to play it.
well though this was horrible timing i'm sure that anyone with some sense will realize it isn't sony's fault. that being said, i was actually looking into getting this game. i never played a socom game before, looked at confrontation but read it wasn't that great. this looked pretty neat, but until psn comes back i'll hold off on getting it since i'll be able to return it if i don't like it (the only good thing gamestop does).
Anything heavily focused on multiplayer is getting screwed by this. Most people can't just buy any full price game they want anytime they want. Average Joe gamer that barely has a grasp on why it's been down 2+ weeks will probably give his limited coins to something like Gran Turismo or inFamous. And when the PSN is back up, if he can even remember wanting Socom 4, he's not going to buy it then because he spent his money on something else allready.

I agree. I can't wait to try it out...opinions seem soooo different with this game. Some people say it still fells like socom some say it's nothing like socom...some say it sucks and others say it's great.
I guess I will just have to wait and tryit out myself but a lot of people hated the last Socom and I really enjoyed it so...ya never know.
played the beta and didn't like it, needed something to play since psn is down and traded in mw2 and medal of honor for this ( 26 after tax including code ), after learning the controls and getting use to 3rd person i'm glad i got it, it's not spectacular but i can't wait to go online
EA AND ACTIVISION knew what was coming... They Planned it!!!!!!! but ea are making bf3 so umm.. Blame it on Activision they knew 80% of there users where going to play socom 4!!!!!
