I need a good multiplayer game to get me through the summer , until the big guns come out this holiday season.
Socom 4 or Killzone 3
Thanks

KZ3's multiplayer is some of the best I have ever played. I would recommend buying the map packs as well. they are not too expensive. if you buy all of them, you will basically be paying $2 per map. you cant beat that.
but make sure you play the campaign. playing KZ3 and not experiencing the campaign should be a crime. just look at my sig. its one of the best campaigns in FPS history.
Invisibility cloaks and people disguised as your teammates in KZ3? No thanks. The_Rick_14
its not that big of a deal. overall the online is pretty balanced
If you play a lot of FPS games online and you own a few of them than go for Socom 4. Nice to play a TPS online these days instead of the hundreds of FPS games that come out every year.

Unless they patched something, it is indeed a big deal and not balanced. How much time did you spend on KZ2?are people still playing bad company 2 online ?

Yes... A LOT of people still play Bad Company 2 online, including me. It's one of the most popular online games. It's also probably the best FPS online game for consoles. You can even get the first Bad Company on PS3 for cheap and tons of people are still playing that one as well.
Go for Killzone 3. People say it's unbalanced but I disagree. I usually play as a marksman and I get spotted and killed, sure you have an extra edge if you know the maps very well, but (for example) I don't have any problem in spotting other snipers, so you can see, there is balance.
When I play as a tactician I do good as well, because of the radar scan ability. I think every character in the game has its highs and lows, therefore the game is balanced.
Infiltrators are a pain in the ass yeah, but hey listen....when you see someone of your faction running from the enemies up to you, not being shot by the enemies...hey it's pretty clear he's an infiltrator, just shot him a little and see.
I agree they should get hit by the turrets though.
Ok, a lot of people are not talking very nice about Socom so let me kind of fill you in on why.
Most of them don't like it because it's so different than the older Socom games. It's not a run-n-gun type of game like the ones from the past (or at least that's how I understand the older ones were).
It's a bit more "real" in the way that you can't really "run-n-gun" because there is a cover system and a lot of people tend to hang back and hit from a distance from cover. That's why I say it's more real...in the real world people are not going to run-n-gun. It's not perfect though...head shots are too easy and there are a few other issues but all and all I love the game. In fact I think it's probably the best online game at the moment...on console anyway.
I have KZ3 but only played a few multiplayer games because I have been enjoying Socom so much more.
SOCOM 4. Pre-patch it sucked, but I actually like it with the new patch. I'm also a diehard SOCOM I and II fan, still play II to this day.
They do need to release a new patch that makes hipfiring more useful. It shouldn't be as ridiculously easy as Confronation but it's absolutely horrendous and not even worth doing in 4.
KZ3 ruined everything that made KZ2 amazing, it's now an unbalanced CoD clone with no player or weapon weight, no customization, no deployable spawns, and completely unbalanced classes. I think you should just buy KZ2, KZ2 is one of the best MP games out there.

Unless they patched something, it is indeed a big deal and not balanced. How much time did you spend on KZ2?quite a bit. KZ2 was pretty unbalanced.
for example, take a look at the radec academy levels from both games. in KZ2 8 times out of 10, the battle would become a cluster**** around or even inside the spawning points. on top of that, the spawn grenades enabled even more spawn-killing madness. it was a mess. If you play the level on KZ3, there is none of that stuff.
also, you cant forget the boosters that were rampant in KZ2. what about the armor perk (which was far stronger than the one in KZ3), adreneline perk, and the golden pistol? werent those just as cheap as anything in KZ3?
but even apart from the balance, KZ3 made countless improvements
- lowering the health a tad. now its not too high (like in halo) and yet its not too low (like in COD).
- the controls are alot more fluent (not that they were terrible in KZ2). I dont see how anyone can deny that the controls are better in KZ3. and this is a very important factor.
- the melee is vastly improved. you shouldnt have to whack a guy 2 or 3 times with your gun to kill him.
- the medic can heal alot quicker and easier. you can heal with one button
- with the engineer the same applies. you can repair with the press of only one button.
- the tacticians recon ability work alot quicker
- ability/leveling system is alot more coherent and it keeps people from mixing abilities from other ****s in cheap ways.
- you have more of a choice of side arms
- operations mode is fresh and inventive
- the level design is more tight-knit. and because of that there are slightly less campers
- the spawn points are better protected. no more "radec accademy" spawnkilling nonsense
- jetpacks and mechs add alot to the action
of course, people want to ignore all of the positive aspects as if none of it matters.

It was still a big enough deal a month ago to me to outweigh and ruin all of those positive things. I'm not a big fan of having to waste bullets into friendlies just to check if they're an enemy or not and hate even more that someone can just camp in a corner completely invisible. I'm glad you love it though. To each their own. Please Log In to post.
