Thoughts? Yes, yes please.
though this would make a lot of people happy, it's never going to happen.
We will be lucky if H-Hour turns out to be any good, all of the changes going on over there.
Even with all of the money that SOF got, we would be lucky if H Hour made it to an sony console.
I couldn't agree more!
yessssssssssssss! I don't need all the socom games. Just socom II with updated graphics and dedicated servers.
I would love this, the objectives in multiplayer were a lot of fun(hostage rescue, VIP, demolition). Def better modes than what we have in current gen games.
Any update with H-hour (PC/PS4)? If this game gets released and has the objective modes like socom its a def system seller for me.
I would ABSOLUTELY buy it, and play every last one of them, even the original SOCOM on Abandoned or Frostfire...oh, those were the days!
Am I being a bit naive here but why doesn't everyone just make this happen? I'm a 3D designer and could quite easily model up the maps in whatever game engine you like (Unreal/Cryengine) then it'd be a matter of making it more slick.
Obviously there's the whole 'system' to work on which I assume can be taken and adapted from another game (perhaps even socom 4 or confrontation) and the backside of the game (matchmaking, servers, etc).
But if enough people with enough skills would be willing to do something on the game then why can't it happen? Even if it's just a privately created game that's not for sale etc. Just for the community.
We could put it up one map at a time and it'd almost be like beta testing it as it became more popular and grows.
Like I said I could quite easily model the maps up, so that's one person doing that. Surely there's enough people with a large enough pool of skills wanting this to happen that they can perhaps create it between them?
I really liked Socom 1-2 back when they came out and never even played the multiplayer. I would give them another go.

I know nothing about game design technicalities so all I can offer to the project is encouragement. But I totally think you should do it. Your idea is great, nothing for sale, just small time for the community, one map at a time.
Also, have you seen this?

Shooters nowadays tend to feel arcadey, so that'd be a welcome change. A new installment that revisits the originals would be so much better.
The SOCOM community is organizing an open letter to yoshida for a remaster. https://youtu.be/qm36QDxGutA
You can also join www.therealsocom.com/community/ to talk all things socom.

I think there's another group of people also working on one. Join the site there and work with them if you're interested
If Sony with ever to make a new Socom game for the PlayStation 4. Then a Socom collection should be made with Updated servers. There are 4 PlayStation 2 Socom games, 3 PlayStation portable games and 2 PlayStation 3 games. Sony could potentially release a Socom Anthology with 9 Socom games supported by updated servers and graphics remasted for a new generation. This would remind people how great this game series once was.
A Socom Anthology with updated servers and graphics would be great for a PlayStation 4 new trilogy of new socom games. Will Sony ever do this?
