So I finally picked up a PS3 this week!!! I am thinking about picking up SOCOM Confromtation, but all the reviews I have read talk about all the bugs the game was released with. I am wondering for those who still play the game if those bugs have been ironed out? I am also wondering for those who are still playing if there are still people online playing this game, or are the servers dead?

Thanks in advance.

Well i havent been playing since the game was released, as i just picked up the game a few weeks ago myself, but it all seems fine to me. And as for the servers being dead....ha! no way man. There are still plenty of people playing this game. :)

Picked it up a few weeks ago, i've had no problems. Hardly no lag, bugs or anything else come to mind, just a great underrated online game :).

Bought it on release, and its definitely come a long way since October. 1.5 is in Q&A right now which addresses more issues the community has expressed concern over. If you like tactical shooters from a 3rd person view, I would definitely say pick this one up.

I bought that game for the headset. So the game itself only costed about $3.

Socom is just terrible. I cant say anything good about it. Its just cheaply made. The framerate struggles. Matchmaking is terrible.

I can't say anything good about it.

Keep in mind that I played it after it was supposedly fixed by patches.

Umm.........you sure? Hey TC, dont listen to this guy. (No offense to you) Socom is NOT terrible. Cheaply made? lol, are you kidding? If you seriously cant say anything good about this game, then somethings wrong. I have no frame rate problems, no problems matchmaking, no problems with anything.

Are you kidding me, socom is no lag... i was on 2 days ago... rooms hold up to 256 about 10 of those rooms were fulled to the max while the other 10-20 were about half or more than half fulled...

Its not as much as cod5 having 100,000 people on daily, but i think 3,000 is enough people.

I have two good news for you.

1. There are plenty of Socom gamers enjoying the game.

2. Pretty much all the bugs are ironed out and the game plays properly now.

I was a beta tester and let me tell you, I don't know how in the gods name they have released the game without taking care of most issues it had. However, that's a past now.

Two things to keep in mind, people are very, very good in the game. Don't get upset if you die more then you expect. Until you get use to the maps, weapons and gameplay, it will be bit hard.

The patch will take around 600MB to download.

Use a mic. 95% of Confrontation players communicate, it's a heavy team-based game, it's realistic and brutal, but very satisfying.

If you like Socom, you will be addicted, today it's a good game, months before it was quite a headache. ;)

The bugs have been fixed, but unless you are a hardcore tactical shooter player then you won't get a ton of playing time out of it. Tactical shooters just don't do multiplayer very well.

I think socom is a great game, but alot of people are really good at it, so start off in the respawn games and get used to the maps then move to the more tactical non respawn 16 player games.

You nailed the whole thing down very nicely. I have the game and will be getting back into it later (working on the Battlefield Bad Company trophies right now). I mat be one of many Socom big fans, got all of the Socom games that have been released on the PS system and a couple of the PSP games (gotta replace my PSP one day before getting the rest of these games, just not in a rush to get one at the momment).
