I hear that SOCOM has a pretty good community just wondering if the majority of people use their headsets. Picked up the package last night at Walmart for a great deal because they had it priced wrong lol.

The package with headset sold for 69.99 Canadian at futureshop with the headset alone being proced at 58.00 and Walmart had the entire package priced at 58.00! I was initially just going to pick up the headset but now I have SOCOM for free!

Heck yeah its a smoking deal. That's why I bought the game at launch. The Community is for the most part really good. However there are exceptions just like everything in life, but you can expect to run into more ppl with headsets and especially if they are in a clan will be cooperative. Enjoy the game! It was horrid at launch but the updates have improved it infinitely and once they get everything they advertised on the box and some more maps this game will have some long legs to walk on.

If you're looking for a headset then its definitely a great deal... The game however isn't the kind that appeals to a large majority.

Yeah I read about the terrible launch and it is one of the reasons I stayed away from the game. However, after searching through some forum posts recently people seemd to think that a lot of bugs had been fixed. I love tactical gameplay but in most games people seem unwilling to participate in any sort of cohesive setup. So I am hopping that SOCOM will provide the tactical fix I need :)

Have you even played socom before. It is one of those games when there will still be a lot of people playing when like Socom 8 comes out. There are true Socom fans that never stop playing it. On the PS2...it was the best multiplayer experience for playstation. It has thousands of players online all the time. You should go do some research before you post something you have no idea what you are talking about.

If that's the case then it sounds like a win-win situation for you since there isn't a lot of tactical shooters to choose from. Definitely give it a chance.

Basically all of the bugs are fixed and it is wierd if you go into a room and there are more than one person who doesn't have a headset. In other words...more than 95% of Socom players have a headset. And it is very strategic....but you have to get a good team going....a team that talks a lot. I play this game almost everyday still.

Whow there big man, no need to get soo defensive mr diddies lol Yes, I've played socom during my ps2 days...and I've played socom on the ps3 at a friend's since I wouldn't purchase it..albeit it was during the launch period.. what I meant by "it won't appeal to a large majority" is by its genre... hence why in my second post I encouraged him to get it if he wanted a tactical shooter. but just for the hell of it "I officially declare the game the most horrible game that graced the ps3"

That is funny that you say that because most people would disagree with you...and who are you to say it is the most horrible game on the ps3...you can say it is your worst game to grace the ps3 but maybe you are just horrible at tactical shooters. Maybe you like to just run and shoot and then respawn over and over and over again.

Well maybe the lowest form of English writing I have ever seen. I took everything you said literal. And that is the way I am going to take it.

SOCOM Confrontation is the most horrible game on the PS3. If Zipper wasn't off making MAG and was the team behind this SOCOM, it would be a different story. The only thing good about this SOCOM is when you sell the game to make the headset cheaper.

Also, I wouldn't consider "thousands of players online all the time" to be a large majority. With millions of systems out there, those thousands are a drop in the bucket compared to the hundreds of thousands or even millions that are constantly on Killzone 2, Halo and Gears of War.

You just need to relax diddies. You're getting all defensive over a game that isn't very good.

I've had Socom Confrontation since launch and for the first few months of it I would definitely agree that the game is the worst thing to be on the system. It was an online only game that couldn't connect you online. Also it came missing alot of features that are printed in the game manual. Patches recently however have fixed alot of the bugs and glitches (and added the all important Quickmatch feature) even though it could still use some fine tuning. For the first 5 months of this game I logged about 20 minutes. But since a buddy of mine got a PS3 and this game me and my other buddies have each logged about 20 hours in the past month and a half alone!

Well, that's good...at least you've gotten some play out of it now...my copy still sits and gathers dust...I was so pissed when it sucked so bad when it was released and I haven't had reason to touch it again since....at least I got the headset which is great....

Yeah Its great! If you still have it you might wanna put it in and give it a go. You can join up with us for a quick match every now and then. And yeah the headset is amazing I love how you can charge it and use it as a standing mic instead of a headset
