I heard the current 60 and 20gb ps3s have separate hardware to play ps2 games and the new 80gb version will instead use software emulation like the xbox 360. IMO having dedicated hardware seems like it would work better. Although I don't have many ps2 games I'd like to try out some of the metal gear series. I've never really played any, gasp, only tried it a few times at my friends and stuff. With MGS4 coming out I'd like to get caught up. I already have a 60gb so I guess I'm using the hardware, but if the software emulator ends up being better I'd hope Sony offers a way for everyone to dl it. What do you guys think?

Where do you live????

All PS3's that are outside America and Japan use software emulation and it has been that way since launch (I have a 60gig in Australia it uses software emulation) it is not a new thing with the 80gig.

Software emulation here too (in the UK) .. Games like Fifa(not online) and Killzone look crap but play fine.
