Solution for 2.40 Bricking PS3

"Users found that removing and reformatting their PS3 hard drive and then reinserting it into the console would get the system to boot completely, after which it asks to reformat the disk again and everything runs normally. Of course they lose all of their saved games and have to redo all of their downloads, but I suppose that is better than sending in the system for a $150.00 repair". K

sony have posted on the blog about this. they are playing it down as not being a big deal even though it is. still they are keeping cool and are working to fix itd_ano

FW is not resident on the hard drive after install ,its system resident so it wont do jack.FTTOUFO

Your 100% Right and if formating the HDD fix its weird
