My first thought is to call Sony. I've had to call them before and they are actually really helpful. Second, take it to Best Buy and speak to a tech, last, buy a new one while the price is low. Good luck.
I have a 60 gb ps3 that I bought shortly after launch. when I went to turn it on last night I flipped the switch in the back, touched the power button, then it began to come on and then the light turned orange for a second then starts blinking red and makes two beeps after that I can touch the power button and it returns to standby mode. one more touch and it begins the process again. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem? If anyone might know how to fix it or might have service recommendations? thanks for the help slithermgs4I had the same problem with a launch PS3 60GB (week 1 actually) It broke about a month ago. I had to pay about $200 to sony to get it fixed...I'm still upset but w/e, I mean its not like I payed $700 for my PS3 60gb or anythign like that at launch  ....:(
Ok buddy, I did some research for you and I found a site that relates to your problem and has a potential fix. Although not garenteed, this video will show you how. I've also found that most people who have this problem say its the YLOD (though its red..go figure)and they end up having to buy another system.
If you DO get that ps3 up and working, awesome. Go sell it and buy another one and keep the receipt and the box so you can use your warranty in the future. If it breaks, companys have a shrink report they can add the system on andit won't count as a loss. If someone buys the system and it breaks, they can return it. So I see it as a win-win, though its probably looked down upon.
I hope it works out for you bro, I've got a 60GB from launch too. Story's like this scare me. Good luck and maybe message me with what happens.

Why is it still $150? The PS3 dropped to $299 it should be like $100 for repair.

Oh, that I dont know. but that was a while back when the 80gb was around....
If you're really desperate, put a hairdryer to it for a few minutes, and it might boot up. Hey, it works with the 360.
