I am going to get a PS3 and I need some advice.

First

-What would you guys reccomend to get along with the console (Games, Extra accessories, Things to connect to the internet. [I have wireless btw])

All i know is that ratchet and clank and call of duty are supposed to be really good.

-Also, What is the difference between the different console versions, and what are the different versions and their cost?

Thanks so much

PS. I'm 16 if that helps

You wont need anything for a internet connection since you already have wireless internet(PS3 has built in Wi-Fi). And they have a 40gig for $399 and a 80Gig for $499, the 80Gig has 2 extra usb ports, it can play most ps2 game which the 40Gig cant.

Answer: If you have an HDTV, get HDMI cables, also get a seperate USB charge cable for the contrioller (They are longer then the ones that come with the system). Games: Resistance, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Call Of Duty 4, Oblivion, Kane & Lynch, Ratchet and Clank. All my personal favs.

All i know is that ratchet and clank and call of duty are supposed to be really good.

The PS3 80gb comes with MotorStorm (If you are in the USA). It is backward compatible, priced at 499$.

The 60gb is no longer made, but might be able to find it. Comes with no games and think it still is 499$.

The 40gb comes with Spider-Man 3 Blu-Ray and is NOT backward compatible 399$.

Thanks so much

You can put anything USB into the USB ports. How many you will need at one time all depends on you. I use one for my controller charger. It just sits there until I need my controller chared. Some people use all 4 ports and want more. Getting a 40gb, it comes with just 2 USB ports and not 4. The controllers are wireless, there is no wired controller options for the PS3, unless you are charging it.

ok. i definitely will hook it up to my hdtv but both of the component slots are occupied (one for my comcast cable, and one for my little sister's wii). can i buy something like a power strip that lets me attach more, or will i have to move the wii?

I am confused, the Wii is not HD at all. It should not be hooked up with HD cables.

you're right. its not hd capable but you can attach component cables on an hdtv to get better quality. theres a noticeable difference but i could move the wii to a different tv if i had to. (wii on hdtv without cables is worse than on a regular tv)

you can have component cables for wii.. its not HD because it only goes up to 480p...at least that's what i think..

I would change it, I mean the Wii looking kind of better is not as good as a PS3 looking GREAT on HDTV's. Kick the Wii to the curb.

If you're TV has HDMI, then I would get an HDMI cable for your PS3. Sony is actually releasing first party PS3 HDMI cables along with a USB cable on December 20th. I found them on Amazon and Sony is bundling them alongwith a USB cable for $80. Even though its probably the highest quality cable for your PS3, that is very expensive relative to other similar qualityHDMI cables you can find at Walmart or on the internet for $20-$30.

Well to answer a few questions, getting an extra SIXAXIS controller would be a great idea and along with that get an extended USB charging cable. There is in fact a wired controller for the PS3, simply buy the PS2 Dualshock controller adapter for the PS3 which plugs into the USB port and is used as a controller, but there is no PS button on the PS2 controllers so be careful for that. HDMI cables are a must if you have an HDTV. The 80gig PS3 is the better choice because it has more features, but the 40 gig ONLY does backwards compatibility with PS1 games and not PS2. Warhawk is only online but is great fun as is Unreal III which is massively fun online. COD4 is a great game, you should also check out Assassin's Creed and Uncharted. Oh and you MUST READ THIS. If you like to download videos and such and think that you're going to need more memory because the 40gig PS3's memory runs out quick, you can also grab a bigger HDD(Hard Disk Drive) for the PS3. It doesn't take any specific company ones but it does take laptop 2.5" HDDs so BE CAREFUL when buying. I have a 320gig HDD in my PS3 at the moment and since all HDDs use some memory for settings and whatnot it only comes out to 301+ total actual storage space so if you can find a big HDD that would be very helpful for you, that is if you want it.

Alright. All i really plan on doing is watching movies and playing games, so I'm not sure if I'll get a harddrive. About how much memory does game saves take up/ do some games use way more memory than others. And also, what all is there that takes up memory space. I know there's game data, downloaded games, Sony Home (dont know much about this) and videos like you said. How do you download videos and how do you hookup the hardrive?

The HDMI input....It's shaped like the end of the HDMI cable.
