Some good hack and slash games with great boss battles?

What are some good hack and slash games with great boss battles? I am playing God of War: Ascension and I am really enjoying it especially the boss battles. I have God of War Saga (1,2,3,chains of olympus, ghost of sparta) and God of War: Ascension. I am looking for games that are somewhat similar with the hack and slash and the great boss battles.

O and I forgot to mention Nier, Darksiders 1 and Darksiders 2. All of them are great games. These 3 are more open than God of War, but Lords of Shadow is God of War with a better combat system and huge boss battles. Some of them you climb like in Shadow of Collossus.

dante's inferno - underratted

dmc4 - lil overrated but still good (but you'll get tired of the "great" bosses before the credits roll) and dmc (5?) properly rated

x-men wolverine-underrated

alice madness returns (i dont remember the bosses too much but it was a great game)

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a really combat heavy rpg, but i dont recall if it had good bosses (worth lookin into tho, it was awesome)

force unleashed 1 - great

zone of the enders - been awhile and i hear mixed things about the HD remake

ninja gaiden(1, 2) -great but sometimes too damn hard

asura's wrath - epic, but short

viking - really underrated (but i dont remember if the bosses were anything special)

brutal legend - mixes in rts to great effect but just be aware of that, incase ur not into rts

i made this list looking for one game and i still cant find/recall it :(

its the one based on monkey's journey west (which was the basis for dragon ball)

the one game i recommend the most, i cant recall the name to ><

Lords of Shadow, Dragon's Dogma (preferably with Dark Arisen), Dark Souls and Resistance 3. Just stating those which haven't been mentioned previously.

I am definitely getting Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It looks great from the videos that I have seen and the reviews are pretty impressive. Price is pretty good too...... I am also getting Bayonetta......... I am also interested in DMC: Devil May Cry. The metacritic has an 85 metascore but the user score (1,103 ratings) has it only at 4.7 out of 10 score. That is a big difference but most ratings are pretty high so I will probably get it later on with a price drop..... Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance looks quite interesting as well..... Deadpool looks pretty nice as well.

thx, i hope one of em tickles ur fancy. i didnt mention some that were already mentioned like bayonetta (which i didnt play all the way thru) and lords of shadow (which i loved), but i do recommend those two aswell (even tho i didnt care for bayonetta, it wasnt because i thought it was bad)

and i just found it, its called "enslaved" it didnt sell too well but was praised by critics and gamers alike (the few of us that played it).

I had god of war saga for a long time but i never got into the psp remakes because i thought the graphics would be real bad. The graphics are pretty good but the gameplay is really great. Next will be ghost of sparta for me.

Have fun with Lords of Shadows. It starts off GoW clone, but it turns into its own game after a few hours of play. The combat is so smooth and fluid.

If mixing rpg elements and adding a big difficulty spike is ok with youjump into dark souls/demon soulsankor77

Two of the greatest games this gen. In fact, I would probably say Dark Souls is the best game this gen. If you want great boss battles, it doesn't get better than this. These games also have the best treatment of melee combat I've seen yet.

If you want something a cut above GOW especially in the combat and enemy design categories, check out Devil May Cry 4. It's still the best hack n slash this gen IMO. There's also a lot more replay value to Devil May Cry with its ranking system.

only played the demo but its the latter and its pretty pathetic that people were that butthurt. 

If you can play Devil May Cry 3 I would suggest it. I'd say its the best non GoW hack and slash ever. Has lots of great boss fights too. You can either buy it on PS2 or the HD collection for PS3. (or off PSN)

dark souls, demon souls, el shaddai (fantastic game) ,metalgearrising, castlevania lords of shadow

I purchased DMC: Devil May Cry on PSN for $13.99 (on top of that, I pretty much got it for only $11.19 price (20% off) because PSN spend $50, get $10 promo), Castelvania: Lords of Shadow for $16.25 with free shipping on ebay and also Bayonetta for $11.00 and that includes shipping on ebay. I think that I got 3 pretty good games for only $38.44...... As soon as I am done with The Last of Us, I will start Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

I would definitely recommend the newest DMC: Devil May Cry. Its a fresh new take on the DMC story. Definitely a great hack and slash. I loved all the God of War games. I thought Dante's Inferno was pretty much a God of War knock off but could never quite compare to God of War. Bayonetta was a little too wacky for my liking. DMC 4 was also a great game, but the story won't make a whole lot of sense if you haven't played DMC 1, 2, or 3.

Coolyfett thinks God of War is a great choice for this thread.

Golden Axe: Beast Rider is a hidden gem. (And recommended if you ever played the classic Genesis series.)

Mini Ninjas is a lot of fun too.

DmC: Devil May Cry and Dante's Inferno are great, but without a doubt, the absolute best & a must play/have is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.The combat system is perfect: strategic, fun, rewarding and intuitive.Even better than the one in the GoW series, IMHO.

@carloscanalesv: I think I need to give Castlevania another try. I played it for a bit but I got bored of it early on and haven't touched it since.
