I've had my PS3 for about a week and a half now and there are some things that I don't understand, some things I'm not sure how to do, and some things I just don't like.

My TV goes up to 1080i with either component video cables or HDMI cable.  Right now I have component cables, is there any benefit to switching to HDMI if they both display 1080i? (It's a 60 inch Sony Grand Wega)

Is there any quick and easy way to find out how much of the hard drive space has been used?

Is there more than one possible ending to Resistance?  The one I saw was pretty bad.

Why are all those downloadable PS1 games just for the PSP?

That menu screen where you access all the settings, web browser, etc.  I don't know what its called (system menu maybe?) but you know what I mean.  Is there any way to make the system boot directly to that even if there is a disc in the drive?  Here's an example.  Last night I wanted to play a few tracks of the Gran Tourismo HD demo really quickly before going out to dinner.  I turned on the system but the game in the drive came up automatically, so I had to quit the game to get back to the menu.   I want it to go straight to the menu every time.

Is there an adapter available that will let me use my old PS2 controllers with my PS3?

That's all I got for now

Despite you TV being able to display 1080i it wont make a difference in terms of games because many of the do not scale to 1080i, they run at 720p...HDMI is considered better, it allegedly offers a better picture, it does offer video and audio through one cable thuse the advantage. Quick way to find out how much space is used on the HDD, there is a menu System Information is listed there. It under the same category or place you will find System updates, I dont know of any multiple endings to Resistance. The downloadable games I dont know why they are all for the PSP, probably just to provide a little something extra for those that own one. And if you dont want it to boot directly to a game...TAKE THE DISC OUT. Adapter wise, there is supposed to be an adapter coming out soon, how soon I dont know.

HDMi = digital (cleaner, to many) signal. Component = analog http://www.us.playstation.com/content/sites/176/info/frame_hardware.htmlhttp://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/insomniacshooter/hints.html?mode=unlockables

Added support for their PSP system, the two systems will have more interactivity together.

I've done it before, but check the manual. I think you start up the system and go to the main screen. click the triangle on you user icon. take it off of load directly into game (I think that's it. If not, I'll edit it later).

Yes, but it's not out yet. http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802566

1. you may see a different in HDMI. you can get the cables for under $20....so why not try it out? it's not that big of an investment. 2. don't know about the HDD space as I don't have a PS3 yet 3. only one ending. could they be leading up to a sequel? 4. the PS3 will be able to play the downloaded PS1 games soon. I would assume that Sony will use the same software emulation for the Europe launch as the software emulation to play these PS1 games on the PS3. Since Sony is obviously happy with that emulation, they may be releasing that update soon which will allow you to play these PS1 games on the PS3. This is only my opinion/speculation though, since Sony hasn't announced when that functionality will become available. 5. I believe the "work-around" to boot to the menu is by setting up a second account. This will cause the PS3 to boot to the menu to allow you to choose the account you want to use. 6. there was an adapter that was suppose to be released but I don't know if it was ever released or if anybody ever bought it to see how it worked.
