Well if I'm not allowed to say "return it" then I can't help you ;)
Seriously though, if it's not working just take it in (with the receipt) and tell them it doesn't work right and they'll exchange it for you. If they're hesitant just get in a bad mood and tell them they have to. Point at the receipt a lot too. That'll usually work.
take it back to gamestopMethodManFTW
Hey don't say that! He'll get mad at you!! :o
thats the thing i cant every gamestop around me is sold out of them for lika 2 months so i cant one back because people reserved them i just need a solution to this problem without taking it backbillyneal
Well there is no fix that I know of other than taking it apart and manually fixing whatever is wrong with it, but nobody here could probably tell you what is making the clicking sound over the internet. If you wait too long the warranty will run out and you won't be able to return it at all (unless you bought the year-long warranty from them too). Then you'll be stuck with a broken PS3 all because you didn't take it back to a store.
Just take it back, say it doesn't work, and see what happens. They might be able to give you in-store credit for it or something.
it is that the fan is not working because ill buy an intercoolerbillynealThat's probably the case. If you would take it apart it would null the warranty though. Your best bet is to take it back to GS, like everyone else said, that is unless you want to spend a hundred getting it fixed from Sony.

Wait what? I find it hard to believe that there isn't a Gamestop around that can't switch out a PS3. I mean it's not like the PS3 just came out. Anyway could you elaborate more on this for me because honestly it doesn't make sense.
Also for the record I think that you should take it back regardless. Being without a PS3 for two months is much better then being with one until you can save up again for another one.
alright if your going to say take it back your not helping so stop will an extra inter cooler you can buy helpbillyneal
No an intercooler will not fix your problems. Intercoolers actually causes your system to produce more heat.
so whats a better way to keep the system really cool billyneal
Put it on ice lol jk, but seriously if your system is over heating in the first 10 minutes of play the only thing you can do is either take it apart and repair it yourself (probably not a good idea), send it to sony, or the other thing (take it back, get your money and patiently wait for somewhere else to get them in stock).
if the machine is not working properly u have to return it, if u want to have a properly working ps3. an intercooler will not work.
if it is the fan, and u take it apart and install another fan....u void your warranty, and i dont think gamespot will accept a return if it was opened.
wouldnt it suck, if u opened the machine, and replaced the fan....and still get the same problem? it might not be the fan, it could be anything
is it easy to take apart and fix fan people told me is def my fan not working so the system gets hotbillyneal
If you don't know what you're doing then no its not easy to fix the and there's a good chance you'll screw something up. The best thing to do is to return it and wait till some store has new ones in stock.

Yeah not only do you end up breaking your system if you screw up but then you can't take it back so in the end you have nothing. Be rational about this. You obviously don't have money lying around to buy a new PS3 to begin with so taking such a risk ends up being pretty wreckless. And I mean it's not bad to own a used PS3. I own a used PS3 and it's worked perfectly fine for me, save the leap year scare. Just real important to make sure you don't have any problems like the one you're experiencing, especially right from the get go.
Did you buy this ps3 yourself or did someone else buy it for you? Because I know if I spent my money on a broken ps3 I wouldn't hesitate to return it.
take it back to GS asap lil dude. you will be bumped to the front of the line as you already bought your ps3 and it was broke, their not gonna make you go to the back of the line again, trust me. and if they give u crap just get mad, demand to talk with the manager, ask for the coorporate office number, that will get the loly peons working for ya.
also how much does GS sell used ps3's for like 250$, dont ever buy used unless its a car or a hooker. always buy electronics brand new. i mean yea u saved 50$ or so but now u got a busted machine and a huge headache, save the stress for when u get married, 50$ is nothing
First of all, use proper grammar when you speak. It helps a lot.
Here are your solutions:
1. Return it for money and buy a new PS3
2. Wait the two months and switch it with another PS3
3. Try to fix it yourself and fail miserably
4. Send it to Sony to fix it for a $100
5. Do nothing
6. Sell it on EBAY. You'll get your money back, and your misery will be thrown onto the person who bought it from you. MUAHAHAAH
Call (800) 883-8895. That is the customer service number for gamestop.com. Ask them what you can do.
so i packaged it and gamestop sent me a paper to print outr and put on the outside of box and i drop it off at ups facility and they send me a new onebillyneal
Life is good. Now when they send you your next PS3 send it back and tell them that this is unacceptable. Now they'll send you a PS3 with a game
