I'm sure you guys read my previous post about my ps3 getting the ylod. Well I sent my ps3 to sony, and over the phone I told the guy I won't be sending in my hdd cuz its an upgrade, so the guy said "sure ok". Week later my ps3 arrives, and they happen to send me a defective ps3. So I had to send it back out to sony, and again I told them "I'm not sending my hdd cuz its an upgrade", the lady on the phone said "ok thats fine". I got my refurbished ps3 today, I get ready to put in my 250gb hdd, and I notice theres already a hard drive in there lol. So now I have my original 60gb launch hdd my upgraded 250gb hdd and another 60gb hdd that sony accidentally sent me.

Bad thing is I can't take the screws out lol. I managed to take it out of the ps3, but the screws in the caddyare like near impossible to take out.

That sucks. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to put my 320GB HDD into the replacement PS3 Sony sent me, I never really needed that much space anyway. And those damn screws were hell to take out.

Yea i had a TON of trouble getting the screws out ofthe cage when i upgraded mine. in fact i striped the screws and damnged the cage. i called sony and they sent me a new cage and screws free. Sony def needs to figure out a better way of mounting the drives. or readjust there assembly system so it does not over tighten the screws. also better harder screws would be nice. they use cheap screws that are made of soft alloy wich is why they strip so dang easy

Well they do have to put a HDD in the PS3 to see if the repair is going to take, so why not just send it back to you as is instead of taking their HDD back and then reformatting it for the next repair.

just what is the step by step process of sending damage products to a company for an exchange. I've could of sworn it used to be take back where u bought it from and get it a exchange just like that. The retailer will ship the damage unit back to Sony for repairs and get a new one. i bought PS2 Aug 2001, Spring 2002 i accidentally drop it but it look ok but disk drive apparently didnt eject. i took it back to Sears and came back with a new 1.

That's normally only if you buy the store warranty now which is a ripoff. Also, most people don't like doing the over the counter exchange anymore because of all the SKUs with and without B/C

Why upgrade the HDD? Isn't it much cheaper and more convenient to just stream content from your PC?
