Sony backing idea to interupt gameplay with ads!

Imagine this- one day you're playing a videogame, having a good time, doing your own thing, then all a sudden a commercial strait off tv invades your screen prompting u to buy a product meant for making your dick bigger.. think it could never happen? think again! i'm not even gonna try to express how infuriated i am after seeing this, sony should have there balls stapled to the fvcking ceiling... :evil:

I'm at a point where I hate/despise advertisement so much that I don't care anymore when I see one. So much money is spent on it by companies without having any idea how the sales are really affected it's just a joke and there's no point i trying to understand such a flawed and useless system.

That said, seeing ads during loading times or pause screens wouldn't surprise me, what would be nice if there would be something for us gamers, and not just moeny pumping again into these billion dollar companies (like 10 $ coupon if you accept ads during your game)

The more of these ideas I hear kicked around, the less likely I am to buy the next gen. My money is going to retro gaming instead. At least they can't start implementing any of these insults on games & systems already out there and floating around.

I'll give up this hobby before I put up with ads, and I won't miss being a part of the cutting edge. What the Hell, I've had a good run. And I DO have enough of a library that I don't need to buy another game or system in order to continue to be entertained by the medium until I die.

I honestly hope this is one of those cases of patents that end up going nowhere, because this has bad idea written all over it. I'm honestly weighing my options of next gen gaming myself. I'll wait and see, but I just might skip over the next wave as well.

Assuming ANY of this horse**** is true to ANY degree... Tell me, has all of the info-mercial ad time sold by your cable or satellite television provider reduced the fee you pay for monthly service?

Ad time will not bring down the cost of games to the consumer. In-Game ads have been going for a long time - Red Bull was all over "WipeOut XL" on the PS1, and product placement has been happening forever, with Burger King having ring cards and the canvas blotted up with their BS in EA Sports' "Fight Night". This is nothing new. But was "WipeOut" or "Fight Night" any cheaper because of those blatant advertising schemes included in the game?

No. They weren't.

Ads in a game will do nothing to reduce the cost of a title to you or me. It simply means more money in someone's pocket as profit or PERHAPS to defer the cost of development to some minor degree...

... But if you think you'll see any benefit as a consumer past getting Burger King's fat logo thrown in your face while you're trying to relax and forget how ****ed up the world and it's various inhabitants can be, you're a complete ponce.

I still don't believe any of this, and I think TC posted it to be inflammatory and nothing more. Still, don't be so gullible to think that anything in this line of thinking is going to work for US, the gamers.

PS - If I need to take a piss break, I'll hit the 'Pause' button. I don't need commercials in my gaming to make time for bodily function.

Depending on how much games go down thanks to advertising money ($30 new), I could accept this. I'm not so impatient that I cannot walk away for a minute to go to the bathroom or get a drink while a commercial plays. Nothing was even said about the frequency of these commercials. If it's a 30 second commercial every half-hour to hour then honestly I'd take it if games would drop drastically in price.

They could also implement the commercials into loading screens. There are plenty of ways to implement this in a non-frustrating ways.

They have already gotten the consumer used to paying (depending on country) between $60-$100 for a game. They will NOT go backward in pricing structures because they have already gotten everyone cool with paying what they pay.

The savings will NOT trickle down to the consumer. WAKE UP.
