Sony has my undying respect and support for any changes they make to the PS3. Use their controllers, their headsets, stuff they give their permission for use with their hardware, and you have no problems. It seems to me that the only people complaining about this were people breaking the license agreements they signed in the first pace (or perhaps you haven't read things before checking the "Accept" box on a firmware update).
The "Other OS" crap is just that - it's crap. As I have posted before, if one person can tell this forum what they used the "Other OS" option for, and how we as a community suffer by not having that option any longer, then I will conceed that I'm wrong... But no one talks about what they used "Other OS" for, because they were using it for no-no reasons (pirating, cheating in online gaming, etc.) Sony put that option on there but fter release, enterprising hacks and cheats turned it into a weapon.
Handguns can be used for hunting, so can semi-automatic assault rifles... but really, we all know what those things are PRIMARILY used for. It's true that the gun doesn't decide who to shoot, but why leave those tools out for someone who either lacks a moral compass or is too stupid to know that it shouldn't be pointed at another human being?
USB attachments are available for controller conversion, but the MAJORITY of people who purchase a USB device for their PS3 aren't buying controller adaptors... they're buying thumb drives with nefarious programming and hardware trickery designed to circumvent the intended function of Sony's product, either to steal or cheat another human being.
Anyone who cries about this is a ****. A **** who lost his/ her little trickery and wants to drape themselves in a Gamer Bill Of Rights and look as if they have been wronged somehow. But here's the thing - My PS3 still plays all of the games I bought for it, I can still get online for a match, and i can still get DLC for my games. The hardware still does what it is supposed to do - IT PLAYS PS3 games.I don't need it for Hulu.com, I don't need it for NetFlix, I don't need it to play movies. And NO ONE needs it to run ****ing Linux. If you're complaining about this, then you're suspect.
I have no sympathy.
Peace/ Out.
