My Sony Bravia CX 520 is not giving me a 1080p output when I connect my PS3. When i select the auto settings the scrreen goes black and then comes back to the select resolution setting page. It goes till 1080i on the ps3, but when i connect my laptop it gives a 1080p output, any idea why that happens? help would be appreciated

Is there really much difference between 1080p and 1080i? Perhaps the TV doesn't output in 1080p,

you shouldn't force a game to output anything but the native resolution. I tried it myself and the picture looks much better if my Tv does the upscaling

Does it give you 1080p when looking at the XMB?

lol, is it that big of a deal. It might be the cable, some HDMI cables wont put 1080p out.
