After getting a 360 recently, I honestly don't think not having cross-game chat is really a bad thing. Sure it is nice to talk to friends online once in a while, but I lot of times I just like to play without conversing to other (singleplayer games especially). And anyway, this wasn't really Sony's decision, rather it was the fact that the way the PS3 uses RAM makes it unable to do cross-game chat and play games at the same time.
cross chat is very unneeded the ps3 is better without itelbert_b_23
Agreed, I use to hate when people wanted to chat with me(on XBL)while I was in the middle of a game. I don't have a problem with chatting "IF" we are in the same MP game but other then that....leave me alone!!!! :P
So PS3 gamers are the antisocial gamers? SpellingiscoolNo we're the gamers that get into our games and don't want to be distracted by some guy talking about what he did in the bathroom.
So PS3 gamers are the antisocial gamers? SpellingiscoolCross-Game chat was the highest requested feature on the share.blog, anisocial? Nah.

Well now that the feature isn't happening, gamers on this board and in system wars are saying "we don't need it anyway, who wants to talk to people while gaming?" Sounds like jealousy.

I think it's just a matter of the people who want it aren't coming into this thread to voice their disappointment and the people who ignored those topics have come into this topic to voice their indifference. Or anyone who really wanted it has already gotten a 360.
CROSS GAME CHAT IS USELESS! Why talk to people in other games????? Never understood that, want to talk to you friends playing other games well that is what the phone is for!hkymikeWhen you can talk to up to 8 of your buddies around the country as you all play Call of Duty or something else, it can be fun, especially as you get older and don't have time in life to see them. So how is it useless again?

It's not like they're aren't other ways of communicating. And honestly, if it was a must-have feature for someone they would have gotten a 360. For anyone who bought a PS3 already, this probably isn't a big deal.

So maybe phones are not the greatest idea ever.
I KNEW this was never going to happen. Well, this is one of the reasons I have the "other system" for.
this feature is useless to me cuz...i have no friends *sniff, sniff *LP4EVA2005Forever alone! I only have a handful of friends on the PSN, I barely speak to any of them.

It's distracting and 99% of the time pointless.

Never needed it, never will. It's a useless distraction for X-bots with auto aim.

How would you feel if I kept calling you while your in the middle of watching porn or some other really good movie? Some people just like to enjoy their SP games with no distractions....and there are people on XBL(I've been on LIVE for years)who are the exact same way.

You could just sign out of XBL or set it to appear offline if you aren't in the talking mood. The lack of party chat is one of a few reasons why my PS3 is just for exclusive and all multiplat games are purchased for my 360.When you can talk to up to 8 of your buddies around the country as you all play Call of Duty or something else, it can be fun, especially as you get older and don't have time in life to see them. Hate to break it to you, but PS3 has auto aim as well.I never cared for it anyway. When I game, whether it be the PS3, 360, or whatever, I sign off so that no one can message me, I turn off all notifications on my phone except phone calls (incase it's something important) and sign out of everything on the computer. I simply do not want to be interupted. But, it's unfortunate for those who find it useful. I did see some valid points from other users in this thread.

So how is it useless again? I'd say useless is the wrong word. Unnecessary is a better word for it. There are other free means to do the same thing for those who want to catch up with old friends.
