Sony has hit the mother load, selling non existant real estate, non existant TVs, and getting people to pay for non existant clothing, movie tickets, furniture, hair cuts. LOL This has got to be one of the smartest ways to generate low overhead income since MMORPGS first came to play. New on Ebay PSHOME Bravia 50" starting bid $100. LOL Great move for Sony, not so great for our non virtual wallets.

Yea but there will be a fee for some cooler & larger apartments with a view. Certain clothing items will be available for purchase. They kept mentioning that the PS3 would eventually become a "Virtual Locker" for your videos, music, pictures, and other stuff. We thought they were just pulling our leg, but then they announce HOME! WOW!

Go take a look at Second Life.

People sell Islands and real estate in that game for a whole bunch of money, and it's legal.

I'm really excited about home it seems really awesome.  I like the idea that you can use it to meet up with said clan members or just friends.  Home is going to be really awesome i think and its a better way to meet people and play online with each other.

If you ever seen second life it's the same thing except that most of the stuff are made and sold by users, there are actual people wjo make a living just by designing clothes or homes for people. But just like anything they are giving the world for free, so they have to make money back from somewhere (ad space, items). I think people expect to much from sony, if you can't afford it then just use the defaults, or i heard that some items are unlockable thrrough the games you buy and play

We won't be paying for in game items like televisions with real money.  If there will be any payment, it will be with free virtual money.  The stuff being paid for is the content like games, movies, tv shows, and so on.

No you will be paying with real money, didn't you read the article. They will give you a default package, a shirt, some pants, and a small apartment and some basic stuff. But anything outside of the basic will be sold, like bigger house, or a car, larger TV all that will cost you REAL money that you pay with Visa or but from PSN Card.

The coolest part to me so far is that as you buy games, devs have the option to unlock shirts for that game. The advertising aspect is huge.

I hope, they integrate game rewards into rewards in home, that would be good. Like if if you Unlock A character in Tekken you can get the character's clothes for you rHome Avatar, or realease game specific clothing as you advance in levels, and get trophies.

When you buy God of War 2 you probably get a Kratos T-Shirt in PSH (Playstation Home).

Something like that is golden as its both advertising and rewarding to customers.

I hear people payed $2.50 for horse armor in a SINGLEPLAYER GAME that no one else could even see unless they were invited over. Seriously, this is free, if you want more, pay for it.

It isn't gonna cost me much. I've played games like the Sims. I'm not about to go around decorating an apartment or buying clothes. Let me see...would I rather buy an outift for my dude or shoot some gangsters in GTA IV. :)

I wouldn't put too much money into a virtual reality game/service like Home. I might buy a bigger apartment (or pitch in with my friends to share one ;)) if they are inexpensive.

Yeah...its funny how if $ony does it, then its ok..its a great thing!  Brilliant idea!  Yeah, lets sell stuff that doesnt exist!!  According to you, thats wonderful.  But if M$ does it, then its horrible and they are trying to squeeze every penny they can out of their poor consumers.  Lol whatever.  Its all a bunch of BS if you ask me

Yeah Second Life is doing it already so Sony is definately making a good move by copying that format and integrating it into the rest of PS3's features. And anyone who complains about it is a moron... The basic service is free and it only costs money to buy stupid virtual goods you don't need to socialize and play games. Sony is matching XBL and taking it to a much further level.
