So i want to know how many of you out there would like sony to release a new larger(150-250) GB HDD that i or they could put in the system. i ask cause, on my system i now only have 35 gbs left. now i do download all tha demos and trailer But, what i found is that all that stuff only uses 2 gb. so i asked my self where is that data getting used. well i found it, when you play a game for ps3. and make a game save. you have2 diff files. your game save and then you have a game data utility file.and those files are almost1-2 gb a piece. my res file is now 730 MB and OB is3 GB and VF5 was 2. like i said almost all my games use alot of space to havethat second file. So im thinken that in the future if i have like 30 -100 games some of that data i dont want to erase. i have some old ff game saves on my ps2 memory card that i wontgit rid of, i worked hard. Now i know thaTyou can buy your own hdd and upgrade BUT when i asked sony about this they said YES BUT, i would have to get 1 that has tha same RPMS, INch size, and many more things and if it didnt match just right then i could have somehdd problems.

that would rokc if the made an officiall PS3 HDD, i only have 2gigs left, and i know that all you need is a SATA 2.5in HDD at 5400rpm, but it is a little overwhelming for the average joe.

Replacing the HDD is a matter of removing 5 screws.  It really isn't that hard.  I for 1 prefer the option of buying a drive myself rather than having to pay extra just for Sony to sell me the same drive in a sled that would still require me to remove 1 screw.

I'd heard of quite a few people replacing their HDD already but I've not seen any1 posting the make/model that they've used.

Sony doesnt need to waste their time releasing a new HDD. the drive is a labtop hard drive and can be easily replaced to a hard drive with up to what 400 GB and my ps3 still has about 42 or 43 gigs left.

There's a video in youtube that shows the step by step process involved in replacing the PS3 hardrive. It doesn't look hard at all, and I'm probally gonna upgrade mine to a 120gb soon (I wanna store all my music in my PS3 :D)
