Uh . . i dont think its all Sony's fault that the Ps3 is not doing as well as expected--it has a lot to do with the developers. biggamerhkYou can't blame third-party developers. It isn't their responsibility to make the machine a success. Sony has to lead with great first-party games if they want to move product.
You're getting way too frustrated way too early.
You haven't even seen what Sony has to offer at E3 yet, so complaining about not seeing any potential when you're only 9 days away from seeing some of it is unjustifiable prejudice.
You'll have to go ahead and wait a year on this argument.
Gamestop supposedly let slip that the PS3 is dropping to $400. At this price, the PS3 could definitely end up in 2nd place behind the Wii. If not, I think this will be the end of sony games. I have had a PS2/GCN, and now I have the DS lite/PSP. I like having both Sony and Nintendo. For me to get a PS3 to go with my Wii, they will have to drop the price to $400, and launch some great games. I think a lot of people think like I do. Sony needs to stop being so arrogant, and focus on what gamers want. Gamers don't want a $600 system!
guy, just look at any review of the 360 and it's the same as ps3 (no good games at launch)...PS3 has a huge september/august/october coming up, and the 360 does not have much, and don't give me the yeah but HALO 3 IS COMING OUT, cuz halo aint that great..

A $200.00 price drop is too much and Gamestop wouldn't know anything about this ahead of time.
[QUOTE="labatbleu"]COME ON!! like said before... ps3 is only 7 month old ! the 360 s*ck @ss for the first year.... it was nothing before GoW .
360's exclusives really suck now ... look at ...
Vampire Rain 5.5/10
Overlord 7.5/10 ... pikmin ripioff
Hours of Victory 2/10
Tenzchu Z 4.9/10
Monster Madness 5./10
Call of Juarez 7.4 (not bad but not good)
shadow run 6.9/10
etc etcevery exclusive since GoW except Forza are really bad!
duckangel24
u wanna dis 360 now? ok lets look at ps3's exclusives......oh my bad there aint none.
and btw when the 360 came out there were way more good exclusive titles than there are 4 the ps3. PS3 SUCKS!!!!!!! get over it and over urselves! and it was about $200 less
Dude, What he said about the 360 wasn't right and what you said about the ps3 wasn't right either...system wars is straight up the hall way and make a left.
I really hope Sony gets its act together. I love Sony and i do believe that PS3 is the best system, but unless sony stops being so ignorant to the masses and what other systems are doing they will not remain that way. They have already lost a huge base due to xbox's fantastic advertising and seemingly unstoppable ability to take PS3 exclusives. Sony needs to stop putting so much faith in their name and reputation and produce, produce things they are truly proud of, and that are actually revolutionary, I constantly hear of PS3s potential, lets see it.BigTrippinBIG TRIPPIN....STOP TRIPPIN!!!!

hey i agree that Halo isnt that good but Alot of peple think so and they'll probably buy a 360 just 4 it but name 1 game that sony made, that made alot of people go out and buy a ps2 or os3 jus for that game.

Agreed!!! That's just fanboy lies....Sony is FAR from being desperate.

lol...Sony didn't need 1 game to sell their system, they had diversity and that carries alot more weight in the long run.

Sony is in panic mode. They have been talking about a price drop for a long time now. Supposedly Beautiful Katamari has been dropped for the PS3 and moved to Wii. And Square Enix has said they won' make more games until the PS3 has sold more units. Face it, the Wii outsold the PS3 by huge margins in Japan, where the PS3 isn't doing much better than the utterly dead 360. Sony really nees to get its act together. They need a huge price drop, and they need some exclusive games. Killzone for the PS2, IMO, sucked! I think they can do better than that.

LOL...did you read what I was responding too...?? I didn't say Sony wasn't going to do a price drop,I just agreed that 200.00 was way to much. And coming from GS who would believe that..??
Its funny to me that you sonyboys always pick the very bottom of the barrel games when there are tons of games in the 8-9+ range, and i dont need to name them, for the xbox360. whats hurting the ps3 first off is most people wont pay 600.00$ for a gaming system,or even take a chance on bluray,im talking about the average consumer ,infact i know of alot of people that just gotaps2, system because of the games and most importantly the price.I only have 1 system right now and that's the xbox360 i sold my wii because i hated it, with a passion. if the ps3 starts to produce the quality of games that was promised andblurayproves to be needed then ill get one,i got burned buying a 600.00 once before,it was called the 3do so now im causious not to just jump because something sounds good or looks good first and foremost i need proof.:xbeautisan93lol....GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
Why is Sony failing? I pulled this off of the March issue of EGM (pages 67). It's a quote from a developer who is speaking out the complaints from just about every other third party developer:
"[Playstation Network] was a debacle from day one. Basically, the developers have to do all the heavy lifting. Microsoft required us to simply plug in to their code. Sony required us to build it or use an outside technology source. Unfortunately, I feel that the quality of the titles could be much improved if the development process wasn't so excruciatingly painful.
"As far as out relationship goes, Microsoft is far superior in terms of communication, support, and timeliness...Even the initial technical certification requirement documenation [from Sony] was late and then only came in Japanese. We had to hire a translator. Do you think that sped things up or slowed them down? Who needs additional headaches when you're already trying to accomplish the impossible?
"As a studio, we're excitied about the possibilities on the PlayStation 3, and we;ll jump through hoops to support it, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend to be happy about it."
Uh . . i dont think its all Sony's fault that the Ps3 is not doing as well as expected--it has a lot to do with the developers. biggamerhk
It's not (3rd party) developers job to 'help' a console being a success. The developers main concern is making a profit for themselves, and thereby the most resources are naturally poured into making games for the platforms that has the biggest userbase and potential number of customers. Other factors like support from the console maker on a techical level is also of huge importance of course so that developers don't have to make every single standard thing from the ground up. Good development tools and pre-made solutions for things such as online is very important when it comes to cost.
A proven track-record over time when it comes to attachment rate and sales of previous titles is also important; if 1/4 of everyone with a PS3 only uses it as a cheap blu-ray player and never buy any games, then the potential market is in fact a lot lower than the number of console owners when viewed from a game developers point.

yes a whole 3 weeks is a long time isn't it, cuz thats when they started talking about a price drop. please link to this info from SE that says they won't make any more games for the PS3 untill it sells more. I read they don't plan to start on any more PS3 games untill the finish the several games they are already working on, not due to sales. I know your probably a teenager, but those of us that are old enough to have been with Playstation since the beginning know the first year sales and negative press thus far are par for the course.

Gamestop announced that listing the ps3 at $400 on their site was a typo and they don't know anything about a price drop etc., too bad though because at $400 i would definately and finally buy one
WELL SONY SOLD MORE CONSOLES THAN YOU BIG TRIPPIN!
nahtheyareprettydaftatm, hopefully they stop being not good at making money.
You know the PS3 is pretty much selling at the same rate as the 360 right? And what exclusives have they lost? Devil May Cry and what else?wallpaper42
A tiny game called GTA4 comes to mind. Probably the biggest series in the mind of casual gamers, and a true system seller. Not lost for the PS3, but when it is missing the exlusivity period the previous GTA's had it will surely affect the market.
As we all know it's the casuals that really make a console a success or not. A console manufacturer could never ever survive on hardcore gamers alone, so the mass-market is important. And this time the price difference between the two 'GTA-consoles' is substantial. In fact you could pick up a PS2 with a couple of brand new games and still pay less for that bundle than the price difference between the PS3 and 360 right now.

If you don't have a PS3 and you don't like them then why did you come here...? I only went to the 360 board when I had a 360 but then I sold it for a PS3 and now I come here. The PS3 has a ton of good looking exclusives coming (Ratchet & Clank, Killzone, WarHawk, Time Crisis 4, MGS4, Home, Little Big Planet, Haze, GT5, Heavenly Sword, etc.) and the Xbox 360 has three sci-fi/fantasy shooters... (Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Bioshock).

GTA hasn't really ever been a Playstation exclusive, the first one came out on the PC.
While I am slightly biased towards the 360, I will try tobe as impartial as possible. What you said does, and doesn't make sense. When you say that E3 will be "HUGE" for the Ps3, it very well could be, but for all we know E3 just might hinder Sony's PS3.
Now when you say ("it will not only catch up, but will surpass the xbox360.") that does not make sense. The xbox 360 has a huge fanbase of 11,270,000 consoles versus the PS3's fanbase of 3,530,000. Now I ask you this. In the 8 months the PS3 has been available, 3.53M consoles have been sold correct? correct. So lets just say that the xbox 360 does not sell ANY consoles for the next two months okay? Your logic says that because of E3, and Sony's exclusive games coming in two months, Sony will move 8 million consoles.
I ask you another question. How many people with $600+ to spend who want another console, who like Sony, more than Nintendo and Microsoft, who have the time, and patience to wait 2 more months for games which might be swayed by decent games than the crap sony has been dishing out for the past 7 months will be so swayed to buy a BS3?

On consoles though it has been a timed exclusive for 6-9 months. And because of that it has sold millions of PS2's. I know several people who bought PS2's just to play Vice City (I almost did it myself, but borrowed one from a friend a summer instead).

hellfire9988
first off, way to be impartial with the BS3 crap  Secondly nobody is being an idiot and saying the PS3 will surpass the 360 in two months, it will happen in time. Sony believes this, the Playstation fanbase believes this, industry annalists believe this as well, so far the only people saying it won't happen are 360 fanboys.
