Ofc sony knows wen they plan to release their next console, they probably knew that before the ps3 was even out.

At the same time, all these deadlines are flexible. Sometimes too much. Not saying Sony could pull a Vista error from the Microsoft playbook, but giant mistakes happen.
I don't even want to hear the words P.S.4.After spending all of that money on the PS3.K1LLR3175
That is true, I had the PS3 for a year now and I still expect more from it, this talk about the PS4 needs to stop.

the only consoles that should even talked about next gen should be the wii and 360 ever since their price drop. Also those consoles are not as future proof as the ps3. The distinctions between 360 and ps3 hardware might be debatable even though i think the ps3 has much much more potential, but since the 360 lacks bluray capability, it is clear who is superior in technology.
a year after the next xbox?
well then, sony better get moving. and perhaps some more launch games as well...

Every console is outdated already. PS3 has been obsolete for a while. Nothing is future proof.Releasing consoles too quickly is a biiiig mistake, remember when Sega did that with the cd and 32x?
I was only just thinking about getting a ps3 and if a ps4 comes out it makes me not want to bother, what they really need to do is get more good exclusives for the ps3 and advertise the hell out of them.
Ps3 is a powerful machine and it bugs me that they want to replace it so quickly.

Everything is based on timelines. The schedule for the PS4 was already there when the PS2 came out however these schedules are usually very high level and change very often. These changes happen with every change to the current market, investor support, R&D progress.
Yes the PS4 is probably already being thought out in writing and some R&D is going on in future technology, but we do not need to worry about that now because its years away from even being developed.
Stop with the ps4 crap, guys. I mean we're still dealing with the ps3. MusashiSensi
Again I agree, to me those who bring up the PS4 either had enough with the PS3 or not satisfied with.
In the next hardware I think sony will do away with backward compatiblity and may even drop the PlayStation name.nimuk
The PLAYSTATION name is what makes it sell, it established its name changing it will be foolish in my opinion.

I said nothing about the games. I simply said that the hardware in the PS3 (Maybe excepting Blu-Ray), and the 360 for that matter, is already obsolete. Can you really try to argue that statement?BTW, your avatar kicks ass.
how about sony gives us some software for this gen before the chatter of ps4stevesurdaddy12
I agree it is taking a long time for games like FF XIII/VERSUS, GT5,WKC etc...... it is taking a lot of time for these games to come out.

I won't ever argue that the tech is already obsolete, I thought we covered that in our previous debate. My sole arguement is that the new tech is going to be immensely expensive to design and produce, therefore the current consoles need to make more money on this generations consoles before they can feasibly afford to begin on the next gen. I am pretty sure that Sony is barely on the threshold of their console being profitable. This generation has been very expensive to participate in, and the next gen will only be more expensive. Thats all I am trying to argue.
BTW thx :)

Exactly. The PS3 literally has multiple *years* of life left in it, and then some. It's also the best player for the next big disc media format. Stop worrying. it's not going anywhere. If you look at the main article this was based on, it was another developer company making the estimate as it pertains to future software development . Sony didn't bring it up.
[QUOTE="rogerjak"]PS4 before 2013 is suicide.RomanticFool
I would agree with this statement.
If anything, 2013 would be the year that they announce the next Playstation is being made. 2013 is an impossible time frame considering PS3 is using technology that just came out that hasn't even been fully implemented into society yet. As Blu Ray and the other parts that make up the PS3 are still considered "new"

Seems to me, just a horrible case of very short attention span. Just stick something shiney infront of him and he'll forget all about "PS4" If someone doesn't like the PS3, either get a time machine, 360 or a Wii. Simple as that lol
sony said them self that the ps3 will have a 10 year life cycle. so the ps4 won't be hear till around 2016 since it came out in 2006. Silent_Scope05The term life cycle means the companies commitment to continuing software development, that statement does not mean that PS4 will not come sooner. PS1 and PS2 are said to have a ten year life cycle even though the release of the next console has been sooner than that each time.
Well, if we all stop to think about it, 2012 isn't that big of a surprise is it? That's over 5 years into the PS3's life cycle. The PS3 has yet to profit over it's manufacturing costs (just like the PS2 did in it's first two years). The point is that Sony's strategy with the PS2 brought it a ton of success and for the first time ever, both generations of hardware are over lapping for over two years.
We were all told (here on Gamespot in fact) that Microsoft's entry into the console market would decrease the life cycle of consoles overall. I think that expert opinion can only be said for Microsoft. Sony seems to be right on schedule.
... And those of you complaining abou thow much you spent on your PS3, pleaaase stop whining. It's time to rejoice!!! This holiday season is the beginning of PS3 taking over the market. By the way, that's right on schedule too. It's exactly were the PS2 started to take over. To make those of you feeling guilty about how much you spent on your consoles, take a look at Microsoft's price drops. $199 for a 360 with the exact same hardware and features? So what the hell were people spending $399 on at launch?
** Hugs PS3**
Call me a fanboy if you want. I love my PS3 and happy with my choice, and look forward to all of the games coming, and in 2012? I don't know, I'm sure my PS3 will stil give me a lot adnd I'll be able to hold off on a PS4 for a year or two. That's waht happened every other time anyways ;)
