[QUOTE="PSP107"][QUOTE="emitsu97"]I don't recall there being anything more than speculation as to why he left.FightingfanPS3 was a flop at the time. Is it still kinda? Its not ps1 or ps2. *no flaming intended because I know half of the Gamespot community gets butt hurt when something negative is said about there prized piece of plastic. It is actually doing better than the PS1 at the same point in time. PS2, obviously not.

PS2, obviously not. I just think Sony needs to just pay for exclusives like they did in the past, Modern warfare 3 and GTA5 would make millions of people buy the PS3.
No they shouldn't do that. and become like MS with almost no exclusives now because all they have is 3rd parties? A lot of "only 360" went multiplat with bonus content later on. So much for the 50 million MS paid for GTA 4 content. Look at Bioshock, Star Ocean, Lost Planet, Eternal Sonata. Tales of Vesperia JP, Section 8, Ninja Gaiden 2, and so on. They all went multiplat eventually, Sony did the smart thing by investing in themselves. They saw what 3rd parties were doing and weren't going to pay for it. Why share money with 3rd parties, when you can make games yourself and get more money.
The exclusive deals between 3rd parties and console makers are becoming less and less. Look at the call of duty map packs, MS has gotten a month advantage instead of 5 months to year or something. PS3 is almost on par with 360 in terms of sales. Think about it, the 360 came out a year ahead of PS3 and had a lot of games at the start but it's only 5 million units ahead in global sales. It seems all that exclusivity didn't really pay off as much as it is touted. GTA 4 failed to move hardware on both consoles, FF 13 failed to move hardware on both consoles except for Japan.
games like FF 13, Devil May Cry 4, Tekken 6 sold better on the PS3 than the 360. If big games aren't moving hardware and games that while aren't exclusive anymore still sell better on your system, why pay for the other company not to get it?
Sony already has Japan in it's pocket, 360 sales are so poor it's unbelieveable that MS has not romoved itself from the territory altogether. The PS3 version of a multiplat game will sell many times over what the 360 will. It's funny that even with Eternal Sonata and star Ocean being exclusive for a long time and with Tales of Vesperia as well, that Japan still prefers PS3 even though the 360 had all the RPG's at the time. Sony just needs to keep Yakuza and GT 5 exclusive and it will always have Japan. Prolyphony is a developer for Sony so GT5 will always be exclusive. Europe loves GT and racing games and The PS3 is no stranger to that category, so Sony has Europe.
Sony needs to do something with America. America plays shooters and Sony still has failed to capitalize on this. They tried with Killzone 2, and Resistance but it hasn't made hardware fly off shelves.
Paying for exclusives won't work this generation and hasn't worked as a whole. If it were that importnat than MS would be well ahead of Sony and they aren't, they lose steam with each year.
I am trying to bash any console maker, but GTA 5 and Modern Warfare 3 as exclusives would not help in the long run.
I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, now that the price is finally at a reasonable level, it's fantastic that the PS3 has all the features that it does. On the other hand, I couldn't afford to buy one until 2 1/2 years after it was launched. Not really sure if I think the guy was right or wrong.
I think Kutaragi was a little greedy on his price point. A system for six hundred dollars is basically a laptop. If it sold for maybe 450 or so a lot more sales would have been attributed. Now Sony has lost some consumers to the 360 market because of the price. I agree 3rd party exclusives are overrated because the increasing costs to make video games. But Investing in 1st n 2nd developers was a wise move indeed. I have both system but Microsoft does not have a broad selection of exclusives anymore or one that doesn't offer a variety of gameplay like the ps3.
[QUOTE="PSP107"]http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=250605 Do ppl owe him an apology? Should Sony bring him back for PS4?mushi799We shall see if he's right. As far as we're concern, the 360 seems it will last as long as the ps3 ~10years. good point.
