This is a rumor and nothing has been confirmed, but if the rumor is true could that mean that the device can tract your face/eyes and by using that be able to produce a 3D image on your normal non 3D TV, so you would not need a 3D TV or glasses to play 3D Playstation 3 games.

What you said makes no sense. 3D like that isn't about the perspective of the viewer on a 2D screen, it's about physically tricking the eye to think that the 2D screen has depth. Moving the camara around based on where people are sitting wouldn't do that. Now, what it might do is allow you to take 3D pictures and videos that you can then play on your 3D tv.

It'll happen I just think they're preparing for too far into the future.

3D is over rated.. i can't wait till the fad dies off. 3D games and movies.. no thanks. I like games the way they are, dont have to buy $200 glasses and a new tv/monitor.. and then what if you want to watch a movie with friends? Or what if someone sits on them? Thanks but no thanks.

Whether or not it's a fad doesn't matter. 3D TVs are going to get cheaper and cheaper and a lot of people will make the upgrade to them sooner or later. You get a choice to use the 3D technology, so complaining about it is useless. By the time 3D TVs cost the current price of HDTVs($500-$1000), a pair of glasses will cost around $20-$30, I think.

It actually can be done like that too, but there wouldn't be a need for another PS Eye. Sony's already shown that it can do face tracking. The only downside is that only one person can get the 3D effect at a time.

If I understand what you're saying, that's not the same kind of 3D though. That's just moving the in-game camara around based on where the person is. It's still a 2D image, from our perspective. They are making tv's that can display the two images to create a 3D effect on the same screen without the need for glasses, but that's not what this is.

I know, but if done right, the effect is convincing enough to be considered 3D. And technically, current 3DTV's are 2D too. A real 3DTV would be one with holograms. :P
