I just came accross that article. Being a huge fan of the PSN games, I think it's great news.

"[...]As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Sony will match the development budget of a self-published video game if that title remains exclusive to the PlayStation Network.[...]"

With PSN's current lack of great downloadable games, this is a good move. Perhaps this will turn things around and we'll have more downloadable sweetness to look forward to.

I hope they stop thinking they are the videogame industry and start thinking like in the PSX and PS2era.

It's all opinions really because personally, I think the PSN has a great line-up, Crash Commando being my favourite.

Say a company has a budget of $1 million to develop a game. If they accept to publish the game exclusively on the PSN, Sony will give them the equivalent ($1 million) of the game's budget in guaranteed royalties. But the game's company remains owner of all the rights.

What the heck? there's tons of PSN games that are awesome. You either don't know what you're talking about or haven't bothered looking for these games. :|

I agree TCits a brilliant move on Sony's part. PSN will get a huge boost in games because of this. Game developers can try out fresh innovative ideas without fear of taking a loss if it doesn't sale well.
