yes, that's true and pretty obvious.
I bought a PS3 because I believed in it's first party line up and that it would have good Japanese support.
I didn't count on the market to shift towards western development and games that I totally don't care about.

My cell phone does all of that. Except for the "Best" part...but the PS3 doesn't have that either so yea...
Sony has made a lot of mistakes this gen already, they need to get over it. Devs realize that it's easier to make games for Xbox(PC), and MS helps them out more than Sony. How can you blame people for selling to a broader market? It takes them years to make these games.
Developers aren't a part of the console war, so if they start picking sides, it means they lose selling to a certain market. Sony needs to quit boohoo'ing about it.
They were the last to enter the race, and they were the most expensive during a bad economy. They can't be that shocked that they don't have enough of an install base. Also the more people complain about "lazy devs" like Valve and now Bethesda, the higher the chance of not even getting these games next time around on PS3. Hence why Valve is doing Left 4 Dead 360 exclusive.

I agree with you they did make a lot of mistakes
They even cut profit outlook by 57% acording to this article: http://www.edge-online.com/news/sony-cuts-profit-outlook-57
They are even strugling in Japan in their own territory and been outsold by its competition for 6 weeks now.

You're joking right? Cell phone vs PS3? PS3 is a great machine. Devs need more money to develop these games and thats why going multiplat.

And to make matters worse, the PSP had a HUGE month in Japan...only to find out that the new LCD screen is junk. Something that should be great news for Sony, turns into a mess.
Seems like everytime Sony does something lately, they have to go back and fix it or redo it.
You're joking right? Cell phone vs PS3? PS3 is a great machine. Devs need more money to develop these games and thats why going multiplat. DJCUEBALLTruth... but when the Sony Marketing & PR manager tells me that the biggest advantage of their product is to do something that any PC can do since the last 10 years, you have to wonder: what are they thinking?
Sony really need to pull its act together and make up for the mistakes they made earlier. To enter the fight later is not an excuse anymore (the Wii also came after the 360, and it is outselling both, together)
PS: I wouldn't care less about Blu-Ray. I bought a games console to... play games (gasp).

Not really an exclusive. They are looking to port it over to ps3 sometime next year. Valve has also stated their interests in developing more games for ps3. As for the lazy developers comment, I am not sure they are lazy, but definitely not paying too much attention to ps3. Look at dead space and what developers did with this game. They started with 360 as lead platform, and switched to PS3 as lead platform midway through the development. What was the result, a game that looks and plays well on all consoles. If developers were to take this approach, then we would see better multiplats on ps3.
Also in terms of exclusive 3rd party games....non existent this gen. Games are more expensive to develop and publish, and companies need to make money. Limiting it on one system without any form of compensation is plain silly. Sony is taking the smarter route by investing in its 1p and 2p developers. This is what is going to differentiate it in the long run. Just hope this strategy does indeed play out well.

While this is true for you, and most gamers, there are a lot of people who buy consoles primarily for gaming, but like the added features that comes with consoles, and compare this when choosing one console over the other. This is especially true for times in this economy. College students who dorm and want a console, can have a dvd player, not just a blueray, but an actual regular dvd player from the jump, without having to buy attachments or a remote in order to play a dvd movie. Sony took this into consideration. It also has free online play (although not quite as good as Live) and free wifi. Just some of the features that make ps3 worth the money. Gamers like me, saw that blue ray is a greatadded feature, especially with my purchase of an hd tv. PS3 has the exclusives that interest me (alhtough 360 has a few rare ones I wouldn't mind) plus the multiplats I would like to get, so in the games department, I am straight. In the reliabilty department, ps3 is light years ahead of the 360's shoddy hardware, so a big win for me!
There are also other people who are casual gamers, and want more than just a console to justify them dropping alot of money on a console. Let's not get this twisted, the 360 is still alot of money to shell out for a console. It's 100 bucks chaper at this point (since it was only 50 bucks cheaper at launch), but $300 is still alot to shell out. so when people are deciding, they realize they get a little bit more out of the ps3. Also, online gamers may not mind paying for live, since it is slightly better than psn (for now, even though improvements have been made on psn) it really costs 300 plus annual subscription to live so $300+$50 for the first year, and 50 bucks for each year after. this coupled with the attachments for wifi if wanted, makes 360 same price, if not more expensive than ps3 in the long run.
i think most big companies will be cutting the profit forecasts due to the economic crisis-Y2J-
Sony and Nintendo would be hit worse because they spend yen to make these products and are selling them for the near worthless dollar.
I'm glad. I like to see healthy competition between all 3 console manufacturers. I think it's healthy for the industry. Last generation, it become so normal for the PS2 to have 3rd party exclusives, but that's because the PS2 almost created a monopoly last generation, and other consoles got left in the dust. This generation, they all brought their game, and 3rd party devs/publishers are spreading the wealth.;)
Well Sony was lazy with the PS2, and expected developers to autimatically support the PS3 exclusively too. But Sony failed to realize that they had dev kits for the PS3 that were not very helpful on programming for such new hardware as what the Cell is. So pretty much Sony screwed themselves not the developers. It's pretty obvious that they shouldn't depend on 3rd party exclusives since there's an actual viable competitor. Such a shame that they now are realizing that. HaLink:

I am loving my PS3 .. for everything it does .. for its first and third party games ..
Sad thing is people just complain because they are unable to appreciate what they do have .. nobody held a gun to your head and said buy a PS3 .. you bought into it .. now you have to live with it .. kids these days ..
OBVIOUSLY SONY CANT DEPEND ON 3RD PARTY EXCLUSIVES! thats common sense, anyone who has more money can buy it off them.
thats why sony needs to buy out exclusives for the 360 before it comes out and not after it like bioshock or eternal sonata.
In the long term the PS3 is the best console to own since it has so much untouched potential and a great future line-up wheras the 360 is relying on pure chance to deliver games for next year to bring in the crowds thekodaman
See, that's the problem I'm having with Sony right now. The whole system has been nothing but potential and future promises. At some point, the potential needs to be realized and the future needs to arrive. I can't really sit down on a Saturday night and play potential or watch the future.

EA switched the PS3 over to lead development .. not that it matters since it's EA ..
But hopfully more will follow suit ..
