i read on N4G that SE and sony are making a game coming for PS3 exclusive ( not FF13) which sony is going to fund them. So this could be the first game that sony is gonna pay for an exclusive.

oh my god..............whats so great about FF7?! it SUCKED, yeah i said it. it SUCKED. i wish they would've payed someone like Epicfor exclusives. besides you see what happened when MS payed SE for blue dragon? it came out like crap, all laggy, chidish, and very boring. yes i played it.

Well, when you're in a precarious position you have to do what's necessary to get back on top. Microsoft had to buy exclusives because no smart developer will want to make a game exclusive for a platform with so few players compared to other platforms (Xbox 1 for example). Now that PS3 is faced with stiff competition, I'm glad that Sony decided to change their game and pay for exclusives.

theres more than that. im just not a fan of a game that has just the standards and plays off the same thing voer and over again. i kind of wish SE never made FF, then theyd be out of buisness. but ive never understood why people love FF so bad. same plot basics, and really nothing too grand, if you powerlevel in the begining you can have ALL the abilites at the end and beat the boss with no trouble. really sucks.

no joke, i hate SE and final fantasy. only one i have ever liked is FF12. i liked it, but it had a bit of downfalls, like there was no point in training your whole party.i got away with just having 3 characters, never used the others and beat the final boss in one easy try. same thing (except without the 3 person thing) in FF10. the others i thought were boring. you can qoute me on this crap too if you please.

i would think its KH3, or the new FF online?americahellyeah
either one of those would be great. but no FF7 remake. i did like the first FF online, good depth. better than guild wars. more favored than WoW. although wow was good, just liked FF11's style more.
Sony have been paying for exclusives for years since the psone days.
Just because some exec say's "we dont pay for exclusives we earn them" doesnt mean thats what they have done forever.
Since they dominated with ps/ps2 they didnt have to pay for exclusives they had a massive install base and publishers would see more sense in spending money to only develop for the leading platform then spending extra money to develop the game again for a platform that has a fraction of the install base of ps2(xbox).
But at the start of ps and ps2 sony paid money for exclusives, even when they made that statement they were funding the development of heavenly sword and lair and they would have spent marjeting money on those games, ninja theory and factor 5 are independent companys, so sony paid for development and marketing and basicly would have paid there wages.
It's the excat same thing as when MS pays for gears development and marketing.
This has been going on for years.
They a paid 2k for years for an exclusive deal for gta, they paid capcom for exclusive rights to dmc games.
They were supposed to pay ubisoft for exclusive rights to ass creed but as reported they were too slow, or more like krazy kens arrogance lost them that exclusive along with many more.
It's very naive to think sony have never paid for an exclusive game.
Sony were very aggressive in the early years of ps/ps2 at buying exclusives and i loved them for it, and im pleased they are back to believing they are not un-touchable and have to work and spend to win the console war.
There not going to win for free never have.

sadly i never got to play FFXI, i've never been able to find it. (I think its been out of production for quite a while) so i'm super psyched for a new FF online, next gen MMO's will rock!
So all EA Sports games are now done by Microsoft since Peter Moore is now working for EA?it had a few of the SE people. some of the "masterminds" as my SE fanboy of a pal put it.

You think because ken k said we dont buy exclusives its true, it may have been true for about a year, the year sony lost big exclusives.
Sony stooping to the levels of ms, sony used to pay developers to make sure multi-platform games looked better on ps/ps2, check an episode of the hotspot fom a few months ago(i forget which one) jeff talks in detail about this.
Sony paid for an exclusive deal with 2k/rockstar for gta they have spent millions ad millions before microsoft where even in the market.
To think ms brought "buying exclusves to the gaming industry" is very naive.
MS are doing what sony did very well aggresivly buying exclusive games for there platform.

Do you guys really think that Sony never payed for exclusive during PS1 or PS2 era?
Reading the article it seems that Sony is the publisher for that game, and Sony has funded (published) other 3rd party games before.
Recently released Lair is a third party developed game, funded (published) by Sony.

Blue dragon has nothing to do with square enix, Hironobu Sakaguchi worked for square enix and was one of the creator's of final fantasy, i think his last one was 9, Akira Toriyama built fam from dragon ball, and Nobuo Uematsu was a music composer on several final fantasys, they all work for mistwalker now which is headed by Sakaguchi.
And beside's you implied ms paid square enix for blue dragon not that 2 former employee's of square enix was making the game.
Some of the knowledge of gamers nowadays is outstanding, they come into threads and make comments like this one and the topic headline is just laughable.

MS never really explain there exclusive deals, unless when its something as big as gears, 90% of the time its developers or publishers that announce exclusivity details ie length, and rarely price.
MS and sony only ever say check out this exclusive game then show a preview, then after the preview they will say only available on 360/ps3.
I do not consider buying exclusives as a dirty tactic, its like movie publishers have bidding wars over scripts, its basicly the same thing.

If you want to call buying exclusives bad then yes, but in my book buying exclusives is good.
All together through the years of ps/ps2/ps3 sony have paid for allot more exclusives than microsoft has over its gaming years.During this new generation yes MS have been more aggresive than sony at buying exclusives but does that mean ms are ruining the industry, not at all, sony were doing what ms are doing now way before ms even made a console.
If sony are publishing the game its not 3rd party its first.
They basicly bought heavenly sword exclusivity by publishing it(paying for development and marketing, they snapped that up before a third party publsiher could, same thing with lair).
They announced at e3 they made a deal with rockstar for the next rockstar franchise, would that not be classed as buying an exclusive.
They paid epic/midway for timed exclusive rights to ut3, they paid ubisoft for timed maybe full rights to haze.
Do you think ms paid publishers to make games multiplatform, no publishers choose to go multi-platform, and sony lost "exclusives" because they didnt make there exclusive deals, they could have had ass creed exclusive and it was reported the reason they didnt was because of ken k's slowness.

You have my agreement IF and I mean IF you loved Final Fantasy X.
That, and Blue Dragon was made by a SE/Sony hater that's dragging a great composer down with him. Not by Square.
Anywhose, IF they make the remake, I may buy it just to give it another chance since I didn't like the storyline compared to X's.

fair comment but if they did make a ff7 remake, it is of course a sony exclusive cause sony will publish it but its still a 3rd pt game. Even though it might not be sonys 1st paid exclusive, at least ff7 had the slight chance it could have been on the 360 but its not. heavenly sword and lair never had a slight chance it was going to the 360. But I do see your point.

fair comment but if they did make a ff7 remake, it is of course a sony exclusive cause sony will publish it but its still a 3rd pt game. Even though it might not be sonys 1st paid exclusive, at least ff7 had the slight chance it could have been on the 360 but its not. heavenly sword and lair never had a slight chance it was going to the 360. But I do see your point.
Im not sure sony will publish an ff7 remake i assume square would, correct me if am wrong but i thought square publish all there games made by in house studios, squares like capcom dev/publisher.
Because of 360 small install base in japan i doubt they would even make an ff7 remake for 360, although the franchise is big over her in the u.s.
But its good buisness for sony to snap up exclusive rights to ff7, i hope they do i would buy all ff games for ps3 anyway, i dont know why but i just assciate that console with games like ff,mgs and dmc and associate games like halo, gears, pgr with 360(although there all 1st partys, well you get the picture).
And also heavenly sword had a great chance to to be on 360 as a 1st party game, ninja theory ptiched the game to ms first as MS published the last game by ninja theory but it was a bad game so ms turned heavenly sword down, they must be kicking themselfs ive been playing hs today its a great game.
I thinks its really good news sony are going back to there old ways, thats what made them a huge force in gaming great exclusives, i think krazy ken leaving was a god-send he became to arrogant, ever since he left sony have been doing everything right.
Hopefully we will get some nice announcements in the sony tgs press event(which is happening about right now).
Its started check here http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=83570 for the live blog we will soon find out what this new exclusive is.
It's funding. NOT paying for the exclusive. two different things..... Sony had has been funding lots of game studios before, it's nothin' new.Dogswithguns
Well really it is buying an exculusive, they pay to have a game exclusive to their system as a first party game. its funding but its very similar to paying a third party publisher to make that game exclusive to your platform.
I know what your saying but either way it's paying to have an exclusive game just different ways of distrubuting the money.
Well all I know is I like video games. I hate turn based FF like games and prefer Oblivian to them any day. And ther are no rules in a fight. So Ms bought exclusives, so has Sony, and Nin.... wait what do they do in regards to the rest of the gaming world?cainetao11
thats ur opinion, final fantasy games are based on thinking while oblivion is a RPG based on action.
The story for final fantasy is very epic while oblivion can be too but not as epic as FF.
