What's with this? My Sixaxis has thumbsticks that are never centered anymore (my character will usually keep moving when I'm not touching the controller), and my DS3, which I barely use, is also starting to show signs of this. I've never had such a problem with the DS2, or other consoles' controllers in general

Perhaps you don't take care of them or are just unlucky? I game heavily and have never had a problem with the DS2 or DS3. Even my original DS2 works perfectly and I have had it since the ps2 came out.. but then maybe I am just lucky

There is nothing wrong with Sony controllers, you are not taking care of them. I own PS1 and PS2 controllers who still work properly and this is with young kids playing with them time to time.

Blog it.

i have 6 controllers. 4 which are D3 and 2 are reg sixaxis. out of all ONE of them wearing out like u telling me, but thats cuz of call of duty where u press the damn sticks down to hard and forward. or ur a agressive gamer like my friend. besides that one controller, the rest are all is super fine condition and i use all of them too. specially when friends are over. the D3 i had since they were first announced and i imported them from play-asia and the 2 sixaxis came with my 60gb. but TC u probably need to take better care of them, and if u say u do. then i dotn knwo wat to tell u controllers dont break that easily by themselves

Well, my PS1 and PS2 controllers still work without problems. Those things are near indestructible.

But my 2 Ps3 controllers are kinda damaged. The sixaxis one has some problems with the analogs (the stay a little to a side, so my character/car/stuff) keeps moving or looking a little (sometimes). I blame Wipeout HD to this and the friggin Barrel Rolls... and RE5 for the grabs and shaking off the majinis.

And my Dualshock3 has the R2 button so sensitive that a breeze will activate it (its like down all the time, borderline activating)... this had nothing to do with Sony.... it just fell from the shelf while i was reaching for a game.

I just had bad luck i think.

yeah i would go with you not taking care of them like you should, or they need to be cleaned, or something of the like. i had this problem with the xbox 360 controllers, and i took great care of them. those are porrly built. but the DS have no issues, unless you throw them around and stuff. i have had controllers since my PS2 and they're still to this day working great.

Sounds like you need to take better care of your controllers, sir. I've been putting mine through gaming hell for over two years now and they're still perfectly tip top. Do you play COD a lot? If so, stop running so much. lol

I have the same problem as the TC with one of my 5 controllers, but it took over 2 1/2 years for it to do that. I play a lot of FPS though and what you may call "crap controllers" I call "wear and tear". Some people just put their controllers through more thats all. Nothing to whine about, just open it up and clean it or get a new one.

I still have my old PS2 controllers, three of them, and only the controller with the system had that type of problem because I never took care of it. Never had a problem with the other two after actually taking care of them.

Now, the original SIXAXIS I got with my PS3 3 years ago still works like new.

Could be time to just replace the controller. Anything that has moveing parts are gonna wear out at some point.

It's not Sony, Xbox controllers have this to...I guess its a sign of not caring for the controller or its just getting old?

My original 2+ year old sixaxis is doing the same thing... The left stick pulls to the left about 40-60% of the time and both sticks are loose. My 1+ year old DS3 still plays like new though... sticks are very tight with little to no dead zone.

While my controllers still function fully, they do have some signs of wear. The left stick on one of my DS3s sometimes makes a clicking sound when moved (No, this isn't while pressing L3), and the right trigger has gone very.. 'squishy'. I think WipEout HD was to blame for the heavy use of the trigger... That Airbraker trophy took some effort... And, most of all. I take good care of all my stuff. So these faults aren't down to poor care. It could be luck, or just not-so-great build quality.

Well it's a great thing to happen when you're lazy.:P

Getting the left one stuck to keep you running forward and changing your direction with the right(camera control) is great.

no offense but are you a mongo? i have some mongo friends that squeeze my controllers like money is going to shoot out if they do so. they hand itback and the controller is all hot wtf!?

the game doesnt play better or faster the harder you squeeze/press. finesse is the key to a long joystick life.

treat em right, and theyll never leave ya.

yeah.. i had two sixaxis controllers succumb to the "auto-walk" function, but i never had any issues with my DS3... and i used it more than the 2 broken sixaxis controllers combined. I guess you were just unlucky in that department.

I used to have problems with the dualshock 2 because when I was younger I had anger issues. And on my 360 my controller will slightly move to the left but it ain't that bad.

Sounds like someone stepped on TC's controller while it was lying upsode down. All my PS1, 2 and 3 controllers are fine.

My buddy has had a B/C 80GB since launch and he still has the same controller that came in the box with no signs of wear. You just suck at taking care of stuff end of story.

I remember a buddy I used to have that had the same problem with the dualshock analog controllers... and he was rough with them.I was appalled at how controllers could get like that - the buttons had been depresed and were wobbly, and the analog sticks weren't centered. You have to use better judgement when using a controller, things don't NEED to be pressed so hard.
