Soon to be PS3 Owner Needs Advice

Hey guys, at around summer time I will be getting a PS3. I currently own a WII so i know little to nothing about the PS3. I need some advice on which type of PS3 to buy (gigs), and what are the best games that I should get. I can probably get a max of two games as soon as I get the PS3 so I'm gonna need some good ones, no Call of Duty or GTA please.

Also is it safe to buy one of these used?

Also I am looking more for THE best PS3 game, i was thinking that Resistance 2 would be good, but still unsure.

The 40 GB model may not be available brand new any more. I have one and it's served me well but I only use it for gaming. Also I favor sports games which tend not to use a lot of disk space compared to some other genres.

As far as recommending a game purchase we really don't know enough about your preferences to do so. Personally I would recommend MLB09 The Show, but I'm a jock. :-)

The 100 dollar jump from an 80 GB to a 160 GB is silly.

Buy the 80 gig, and replace the hard drive if its not enough space............instead of sinking that 100 bucks into 160 gigs, you can get anywhere from 300 to 500 gigs in a new hard drive for under 100 bucks.

I got the 40 gig xmas 2007, and put a $75 320 GB HDD in it.

There's the 80GB model ($400) and there's the 160GB model ($500). If you're only going to be playing games, I'd suggest going for the 80GB. But if you also want to download movies and store media, the 160GB would be the better choice. I'd recommend buying it brand new as well, just to be safe.
