Ok it's my birthday the weekend an I'm sure I will get some money. the thing is I was wanting to get Skyrim for christmas but i waited because of all the bad things people said but i still want it. So the question is are all the bad things just over exagerating? I played the elder scrolls game of the year and if skyrim is like that I would definately get it as i didn't think there was many problems with that. So whats the opinion??

Thanks

Yeah people forget that there are TONS of people playing with no problems. Its really worth it. IMO you'll probably experience some lag and thats about it.

get it. like the others said, the patch will be out soon. and the actual problems don't really kick in until you're like 40 hours in or something.

most of the problems skyrim has are just people making it a bigger deal than it reallly is. you will experience a small amount of lag and some small glitches but thats it. you won't experience anything serious or gamebreaking so again most of the problems skyrim has are just over exaggerated and made into a bigger problem when its really not. i've been playing skyrim since it came out and i'm about 200 hours or so into it and i experienced a small ammount of lag once or twice and the only glitch i ever came across was the mammoth flying up in the air out of nowhere (and this is a really small glitch that doesn't effect your experience with skyrim). get the game and don't listen to the complainers or negative comments about the game. get the game and enjoy it

The game is boring. Get Demon/Dark Souls. Those games actually have good combat and is challenging. Skyrim has boring quests and bland combat and dialogue. I felt no urge to continue.

This is probably the worst reply to this question. "Oh, this one guy thinks Skyrim is boring, so I am going to change my mind on the game I asked about specifically" Doubt it. To answer the TOPIC and not force a rather stupid opinion on your question ... the new update will be out soon and, by the time you get to where the complaining starts, you should have already downloaded it ... it IS a fun game and the dialogue is good. The other guy is just mad he can't lock on to an enemy and might have to actually TRY to think about defeating someone rather than "Block - Hit - Kill"

I would recommend you wait to see if patch 1.04 fixes the memory problem. Right now I regret my purchase but hopefully they fix it because it's a spectacular game when it's working properly for the first 30 hours or so.

Get the game. Turn off auto-saves, this definitely helps. Just remember to save every hour or so when your about to start a new quest.

I find "waiting" helps if things slow down. It acts like a refresh.

You do the same exact thing in skyrim in dark souls. Dark souls is just harder... I'm not mad at all. I gave my opinion, whether he listens or not is up to him.

OP,

Did you play the Fallout games on your PS3?

If you got through Fallout and didn't get too many freezes, it might work for you.

The Fallout games froze up on me constantly so I haven't bothered with Skyrim yet. It's on my rental list. I'm going to stress test it and if it works on my ps3, I'll keep it.

But going by personal experience, I'm probably never buying another Bethesda game on a console.

I would at least wait to see if the next patch does anything for anyone.

And I know how people say that others are overblowing the problem and they said the same thing when I was stating the problems I was having with the Fallouts and I didn't even have to exaggerate: those are definitely the most messed up games I've ever played.

Over-exaggerated. I had some freezes, but I always do with Bethesda games...they aren't the best coders. The frame rate issue was rarely an problem after the patch. I've since platinumed the game and moved on, but the problems are blown way out of proportion...mostly by 360 and pc fanboys.

In all honesty...go for Demon's or Dark Souls. Way better rpg games.

I've seen this argument alot regarding Skyrim and it just doesn't make any sense. You're saying it's all been over-exaggerated and yet you're still having freezes and agree that Bethesda aren't the best coders; understatement of the century. I don't know about you but Bethesda games are the only ones that freeze on me more than once (most games don't freeze at all).

I'm willing to let some things slide (loved San Andreas even though it was buggy) but Bethesda games freeze too damn much to be enjoyable.

I recommend you wait for the patch and see if it solves things and later get the GOTY edition.

I don't have it yet, but if you liked the other ES games, I think this is a solid purchase warts and all. I'm not happy that Bethesda would issue the game with as many troubles as PS3 players have reported, but in the end, there's a good reason (or 50) as to why people pee a gold chain in praise of it.

If you have the money, go for it, I say.

:)

EDIT: And no offense, but would you PC boners PLEASE stop posting here about PC versions of games? WE DON'T ****ing CARE about you and your PC bull****. this is a PS3 Forum. Please restrict your comments to PS3.
