Oh, awesome! That's only a few days away now. Granted, knowing PSN it probably won't be posted until late at night on the 16th, but still, that's not far off.
I'll be sure to check out the demo. Have no idea when/if I will get the game yet, but if it turns out good and interests me I probably will someday.
This wait is painful, Sony needs to start having consistent updates on time every week. And they should be earlier to having to until 6:00pm+ eastern time to get updates suck.
Well, like I said, PSN is really crappy about updating. I checked a little over an hour ago and the demo still wasn't available, so I doubt it is yet.
I'd like to know what's taking Sony so long to finish the update. They posted this on the PSN Blog:
"UPDATE: Todays PS Store publish will be delayed due to ongoing PSN maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience stay tuned for updates here."
What idiot decided to do some maintenance while they were in the midst of the weekly update? Was it necessary for the update? Meh, idk...
Anyway, a little bummed that I didn't get to try this demo yet. I guess it will include a special item that you can only get in the demo, so if you are interested in Soul Sacrifice, you should probably try to play the demo regardless.
"Trying the demo and carrying over your save data is the ONLY way to get Spirits Heart, so why not give it a shot if youre already interested in the game?"
I was also excited about this update because there will be another add-on for Frobisher Says!, so if nothing else I'd have some more random micro-games to enjoy. But still... No.
Let's mark the demo date for the 17th. And hopefully it'll be out by... Midnight tonight... -.-
Really, really impressed. I feared it would have a basic combat system like Ragnarok Odyssey, but the weapons actually feel brutal and there is so much customisation.Â
I am sold.
From the coverage ive seen of the game, the only customization thats available is your spells. Armor and clothes however is almost none existant.Really, really impressed. The appearance customisaton is decent; there are only three costumes to pick from in the demo, but I gather one will be able to unlock more in the game, not to mention the two you get for a pre-order bonus. You can make armour in-battle, I have only come across a couple so far, but it is a demo. It's pretty good for a trial.Really, really impressed. Not ssure wheter or not I like it. It does make a good first impression, but I don't quite understand how the system really works (save/sacrifice, equippings spells, loosing them?)
I still haven't completed the demo (I've been doing some other stuff while playing it in bursts), but I think I've formed an opinion about the game based off of the demo so far.
First opinion... I think I am going to get this game. It has a neat premise, there is quite a bit of story to everything going on, and attacking stuff with a magic ice blade arm is awesome.
But I have my worries. I think the biggest concern is that the stages are really, really small and brief.
I was expecting these big stages I could run around in and slaughter enemies, like in Drakengard or Dynasty Warriors. So far I haven't seen too many games on the Vita with very big stages, which worries me.
But, these are the first few levels. Hopefully it gets better.
And I really like the image that appears when the game opens, I made it my new wallpaper. I mean this game does got a neat art direction, and plenty of imagination. That's for sure. Sony's Japan devs, I'm telling you they've got some great ideas for games.
Happy to say this is the first Vita game to relentlessly grip me from every angle. Aside from some questionable, cringe worthy dialogue/VA, it's story is well conveyed, and makes clever use of emotive language mid game to make you care a little for the monsters. The game play seems as sharp and responsive as you could hope for, with a nice sense of pace; yet somehow avoids the pitfalls of like minded action rpg's with having shallow easy combat. Graphics seem equally as sharp, with smooth animation and in places, impressive shadows. This is Vita's Monster Hunter, and the game that shall replace it as my primary time sink. (Thank Christ release date coincides with hand in dates for final year essays!)
Downsides however - there doesn't appear to be as much variety as monster hunter with items, nore depth. But the magic system with the added depth of constructing new spells appeals to the hoarder in me. Finding the perfect set ups half the fun :P I'm also a touch disappointed with there being no explaratory elements to the game. When it was anounced i REALLY was hoping for a Demon/Dark Souls style realm to roam. None the less I'm happy with what we're given! Surely the game will only expand with the DLC (if it works its way round here, and is free :P .
My 2 cents.
not sure why everyone is raving.... all the game is is a series of arenas where you fight 5 or 10 things and move on. This is nothing like a monster hunter game... nowhere near the depth or complexity.... so i have no idea why people were comparing it to monster hunter or saying that it would fill the spot of MH on the vita. i am actually quite a bit disappointed. i was hoping to atleast have a hub world to run around in..... and then have the missions in areas that actually felt like zones rather than VERY small arenas.... the game really feels like a cop out for how long it has been in development...GeminonHaving played the Monster Hunter 3DS demo, the game is amazing compared to it. The combat is a LOT more fluid, the spell combination's you could use is really great, and I felt the pacing was really good aswell. It seems a lot of Portable gamers prefer short bursts you can jump in and out of thus the mission design makes a lot of sense.
All this. I initially expected nothing more than a shallow hack n slash game with semi-stylish presentation, but was pleasantly surprised with the depth of the game.Really, really impressed. well, I think there's on aspect of the game we should all be really happy about, that is the story telling.
I mean for games that walk the monster hunter path this one does really well. monster hunter , Ragnarok odyssey and others all were mostly devoid of story.
here I find myself wanting to go further in the game not only because of action , gameplay and the like, I actually I am playing cuz I am really hooked and would like to know what's gonna happen next to my character and the NPC . I love it :)Â

Granted, I did expect a more progression-based design, but I can't say I am disappointed, it works really well. I do want to just add though that I don't understand the Monster Hunter comparison. You slay monsters is all I can find. And also to be fair, the MH3U demo is appalling, whereas the game has a lot more depth than the demo lets on.[QUOTE="Geminon"]not sure why everyone is raving.... all the game is is a series of arenas where you fight 5 or 10 things and move on. I think i may need to try the demo again, i wasn't all that impressed it seemed quite dull but then again i wasn't concentrating completely on it.315huhesit is pretty dull... i actually cancelled my preorder. the entire game consists of reading a bit, taking a missing, killing 10 of X monster in an EXTREMELY small arena.... rinse and repeat. the spells arent that interesting and there isnt enough variation. the graphics arent that great for a game claiming to be the first VITA title to use its full potential. the voice acting is HORRID. there is pretty much zero customization of your character or spells really, because certain spells are blatantly better than others.... i have to say i am completely and utterly devastated by the fact that this game isnt any good. i have been looking forward to it for ages and to find out it is just a game of "kill 10 mobs" with no depth at all... blah. not interested. the missions are over in a flash and all you have to do is run around and spam the same spell over and over. sony has problems if they think this mediocre shit is going to fly.

I'd have to disagree, I think the book has a pretty neat voice

I was under the impression that there would be some big stages to run around in, with more challenging monster battles. Like I said, I have no idea if the stages get bigger in the game, but if levels stay just as brief and shallow, I'm not so sure..

Fact of the matter is, it's a video game, so there should be some decent game play to complement that story. I just hope the game gets a little more challenging as it progresses.
