Sony promissed an astounding 120 fps in their blu-ray titles. where? when? will it ever be available? i know the eye camera will have 120fps, but that's video. where are the so promissed 120 fps titles?HJrAS_PT
Does it matter? Your eye cannot recognise the difference betweent 60fps and 120fps.
Besides, Movies only need to be 24fps.
well from what i know (if im not wrong, i read it in a magazine) no game is using a blu-ray disk on the ps3 for the moment... they are all on dvd....lazzy102Actually i believe you are incorrect. I know that resistence used 18gb worth of space and because it's on one disk, it would be a blu-ray disk. Furthermore, the game cases for ps3 games, should have a blu-ray logo on the back which proves they are on blu-ray. You may be right about some multiplats, but most games would be on blu-ray. Also, to answer the topic, the only place i heard that 120fps was being used was in the playstation eye camera, where you would have the option of setting it to 120 fps and have it be in a smaller viewing area.
heh heh i gotta try thatand if you try to scratch it, you can't because it's a Bluray :D
i love bluray ;)

Did you make this magazine yourself?

No, he was probably reading an Xbox magazine.
i believe the point isn't about the fps but how can a ps3 perform, if we're promised on 120fps, we shud be getting it and not 30fps on madden.pigsybumsony doesnt make madden, they made NBA the life and achieved 60fps at 1080p easily, so yea...
not only can most people not tell the differences between 120 and 60fps, but some people can actually get sick from it, like people get motion sick or sick from flashing light, etc.Stall0wn3dmost people CAN tell a difference between 60 and 120 fps. it's not as huge as the difference between 24, 30, and 60 fps, but definitely noticeable. and the only people who would possibly get sick from 120 fps are people with epilepsy, and is no larger a percentage than people who get sick off of any other frequency. for what it's worth, most tv's can't display or accept 120 fps at the moment. i believe the new xbr4 and 5's can, and some other higher end tv's, but the choice on those is limited and expensive atm.
Well since animation is only consistant pictures taking over a certain time period and as the eye can't really see more than 30 fps, you won't really notice the difference between 60 and 120 fps, but think of it this way if lag is rare in 60 fps in 120 fps it'll virtually disappear.blackldragonlook, people can see the difference between 30 and 60 fps, and 60 and 120 fps. at a certain point, most people stop seeing flickering (which is different for every person), but after that threshold as the fps increase, people perceive smoother and smoother motion. and by definition, if you're running at 60 or 120 fps, you're not experiencing lag. lag is generally when a network connection gets too bogged down (for numerous reasons) and the fps drop somewhere below the 30fps range.

Ok so you just repeated exactly wait I said whatever thanks for clearing up for other people who didn't understand what I Stated
yea, you can't really see most of the frames in 120fps unless your ps3 has some seriously lag issues, haha :P
but if it did have big time lag, then I guess you would get a smoother animation.
I'm not even sure if my tv can refresh that fast anyway. are most tv's able to do that?

people get motion sickness from high resolutions and framerates.... yeah, not the same as photosensitive epilepsy, which causes seizures from the flashing of lights or regular patterns.

I got motion sickness from Golden Eye but that was probably due to graphics and me spinning around alot trying to find my way.
Show a link where Sony promised to deliver games in 120 fps. There had been talks about theoretical limits, but why would anyone be stupid enough to waste all that resources on achieving 120 fps. If u were a dev, would u be that stupid?slikMotion

I really see no need for this forum because in the real world the difference between 30 fps and 120 fps can't be determined by the human eye or processed by the human brain. The only way to see a difference is slow the video down by at least 75% and then it is barley noticeable.jimm895
I could agree that there is no relevance between 60fps and 120fps, but there is a difference between 30 and 60.

First off, you are misinformed. Sony NEVER promised anything to run at 120fps. They just stated that the power in the box was capable of 120fps.
Secondly, where is this tv that runs at 120fps? If you don't have a tv that runs at 120fps--then what does it matter as you will never see it on all of the tvs running at 60fps.
So I hope that clears things up for you.
Some devs are still struggling to get 60 fps *cough* EA *cough*. Once dvs get off there buts and put some effort into the ps3 we may see 120 fps or at least close to that. Human eye cant even notice the difference between 60fps and 120 fps anyway so why complain?Blitz_Nemesis
I am not singling you out in this, but where is this officially stated? Why go through all of the bother in creating TV's at 120Hz and games to match that and then sell it if "no one" can see it? Sounds like a waste of time. Until I see some credible proof I just can't believe people on a forum.

dead wrong.

Actually there is only one tv that I am aware of that is being made at 120Hz. I forget the model but it is made as a true 3d tv. It was in popular science and looks beyond cool. It alters what you see every other cylce. So the even cylces is for your right eye and the odd cycles are for your left eye. This is done so both eyes are still seeing 60fps, but it "tricks" the eye and then things look like they are 3d. They showed them playing a FPS on it and said that it is scary as hell...it looks like the monsters are coming right out into the living room.
Again, I forget the brand and when it will be availiable. I am sure it will be uber expensive, but I sure would love to play on that.

Well there already are commercial 120Hz TVs being sold as we speak.

There is also the new Sony XBR4 series that will support this as well.
