I liked the old Cole and don't like the new one. However if the game turns out like it should i won't care too much.
I am over this debate. It is rediculous. I sure hope this distraction does not take away time from development or cause a delay. I mean, come on I think it is lame of SP to have even acknowledged these whiners to begin with. It is one thing to listen to your fans when there are serious issues, but this is like one of those if it ain't broke, don't fix it scenarios.
It doesn't matter if people didn't like the original. They already established the character. They can find ways to make him better, without resorting to changing him completely.
This! I didn't like the old Cole at first because he looked very generic, but by the time I finished the first game I had already grown accustomed to his looks. It doesn't matter if people didn't like the original. Whose to say we wouldn't have grown accustomed to the new look Cole? Anyway I like the idea of Make your own Cole the user mentioned few posts above.
Obvious solution: allow character customisation. A game like infamous really should have it. This is supposed to be appealing because it's everyone's fantasy to gain superpowers and go nuts with em. That's what they said in interviews, iirc. That works a lot better if you can actually make the character resemble you.clicketyclickCharacter customization is one of the worst idea, ir may give you freedom, but i rarely get attached to the character, looks too fake imo. On topic: SP should have kept the new Cole.
THIS! The thing is, once a character is established its pretty much always a bad idea to change it. And usually the people who don't like something are the only ones to speak their minds. The people who didn't like Old Cole spoke up and SP listened. The people who DID like Old Cole spoke up and SP listened. I seriously doubt its the same people. I like the old guy and thought the new guy was too drastic a change. I'm glad they're changing him to look more like the original. And TC saying that the game isn't for the fans is absurd. We aren't allowed to speak our minds about the franchise we love so much? Whatever. Obviously we are the ones who feel the most passionately about the game and will be the ones to get the most out of it so this IS for us and WE should be able to voice our opinions about it.It doesn't matter if people didn't like the original. They already established the character. They can find ways to make him better, without resorting to changing him completely.

My answer, 100%
Cole's look was established in the first game, so redesigning him isn't necessary, IMO. The normal changes that a person can go through would be ok, but a total overhaul was not needed due to him already being established.
As for having character customization, in this case, I don't like that idea. Cole is a character with a known face and a story, so allowing users to make him look however they want isn't necessary, if you ask me.
Also, "bothering" Sucker Punch with opinions about Cole's look isn't going to hamper development, so I don't see why people shouldn't give their opinions.
I agree the character should not have been changed and SP should have ignored the people who didn't like Cole. But, now that they have changed him I really like the New Cole and don't want him to be changed back  lol anyway yeah character customisation wouldn't work, I too want an identifiable face for the franchise. Any case I just want the game! they can make Cole into a donkey with wings for all I care!
I'm sorry for your loss. :P I actually had gotten used to the New Cole and thought he looked great, but I'm glad they're mixing the old with the new. I'm anxious to see how it turns out. Oh, and damn your sig! It gets me every time! :PI agree the character should not have been changed and SP should have ignored the people who didn't like Cole. That doesn't mean they should change him just cause some rabid fanboys didn't like the main character. I thought he was good character and it makes no logical story sense to make him 20 years younger an make him sound like Nathen Drake. If it was a new character with a new story I would understand but it's not, it's Cole.
They're right, I didn't like the original Cole, but even if I loved the new Cole (which I don't), I would opt toward them using the original for sake of continuity. Thats really the only reason I'm the least bit irked, though I'm definitely not up in arms over the outcome either way.
I thought the old cole was awesome.. I definitely wouldn't change him.. In an open world game the char should look a little generic, because gaurenteed not everyone is gonna like him and if they go with a far left or right design choice off the bat that kinda sucks... they should just include both models and give you the choice at the beginning.PoisoN_Facecam0I like this idea :D I know which Cole I'll use if SP does this....... the new Cole of course.
But I liked the original Cole as soon as I saw him.Pvt_r3dI find that hard to believe, on first glance the original Cole looks like a boring generic character.
Hmm, sounds more like an excuse to complain about people complaining, OP.Once a character has been established it is worse for SP to drastically change the protaonist, the completly new character design might as well be for a brand new character, and not Cole himself.
[QUOTE="Swift_Boss_A"][QUOTE="Pvt_r3d"]But I liked the original Cole as soon as I saw him.Pvt_r3dI find that hard to believe, on first glance the original Cole looks like a boring generic character. Because his voice matches his looks perfectly, in my opinion. You mean his batman voice matches his Nathan Hale(Resistance character) looks? That's as generic as you can get! Well anyway I really don't care for Cole though I love the game due to the platforming. I just hope SP can strike a good balance with Cole in the sequel.

I never played Resistance so I couldn't compare the characters but compared with all the other games with Nolan North's voice, Cole's scratchy voice is a welcome change.

From 04.50 onwards the guys at SP basically explain how fans didn't like the original Cole, didn't like the voice and this lead them to change Cole for the sequel. Course now the fans (not sure if same) are yet again annoying SP. Sigh.Swift_Boss_ASounds like Zelda fans who complain about both sides of a spectrum lol. "Oh look at all that red, its sucks" *a little later* "what happened to all the red, this sucks" But to be completely honest, both are generic and pretty lame, so it doesn't really matter. As long as they fix the nagging gameplay issues from the first, I could care less what Cole looks like or sounds like. They could make him women suddenly for all I care. I find it interesting that they replaced a generic gruffy character model with a generic male model like character model. I really can't see why they redesigned it completely, and it's no wonder that people are complaining about this. They should have added some enhancements and small adjustments to Cole, not made him an entirely new looking character. I want some familiarity between the original game and the sequel, especially with the main character.
It's the same reason that I say nay to character cutomization. They should be using similar models all the way through the series.
like the original Cole, hate the new douche Cole. for me there was never any confusion. i'm glad they revert the design.
The problem isnt that lots of people didnt Coles look in Infamous, its stupid things like focus g roups that these companies rely on and think that a select group of people reflects what the rest of the public thinks. Coles look in Infamous was fine, Cole wasnt supposed to be anyone special he was just a bike messenger living his life when the Ray-Sphere went off and changed him so his rather"generic" look as some put it was fine with what Infamous was supposed to be. Regardless, we shouldnt be talking about Coles new or old look anymore but we should be talking about the amazing gameplay from Infamous 2 they showed recently...OMG!!! that looked very impressive.
I disagree. We don't like the original design, but you cant CHANGE it in the seconds game - thats ridiculous. Thats like Kratos or Drake completely changing in the 3rd games, or a new actor taking over in a movie.AdziboyI can only imagine if they made Kratos to look like Drake.:P
It would be nice to play as someone who's cool though, makes the story lame if the character is lame. I prefer the old cole anyway
Old Cole grew on me fast and by the end of the game I was really pleased with him. The new Cole reminds me of Nathan Drake with super powers. SP, just let your character be, He's fine the way he is, no changes needed. Stop giving into fan complaints and take pride in the characters you create.

One thing I know is I'm not going to get invested in the story of some douchey looking average joe nondescript balding guy with a typical gruff voice. [QUOTE="Sepewrath"] They could do that, but you know, every creator wants to have their character. Bioware still has a recognisable Commander Shepard, even though Mass Effect allows character customisation.
