I heard a lot of flak against Double Agent (the PS3 version) recently. Bad frame rate, bad lighting, glitches, ect. I heard the same about FEAR, horrid textures, bad lighting, glitches. the FEAR devs should have actually been working on it and polishing it while it was delayed, not sitting on their hands. It is sad because the power necessary for those games to be as good as the versions on the 360 was there. We have seen what the PS3 is truly capable of with Resistance:FOM and Oblivion. But right now I'm worried about the half-life 2 package. Is it going to be a shoddy port? Can it even be called a port? Is Valve even working on the PS3 version, I heard it was EA. Is anyone else worried about this?Mordred19
Now that you mantion it I am.....but SC wasn't that bad as they showed it!
The one good thing about these crappy ports are that this will keep the spot light on 3rd party developers who are trying to make a quick buck.

EA isn't working on the game. Valve is working on the game, and will always work on the Half-life series. They just have a deal with EA to distribute the game through disks, thats all. They have EA make the Disks, and cases for the game for a small profit. I have faith in Valve. Even though the Xbox version of Half-life 2 wasn't as good as the PC, it was also on a surperior system. Nothing will ever beat the PC version, because Half-life was and always will be a PC game. But i promise you this right now, it won't be as horrible as Ubicrap Ports.
Which I know i'm going off topic and on a rant... but it just pisses me off, that Ubisoft has something so good, with games like Rainbow six, and splinter cell, and completley kill it with these horrible ports. It doesn't make sense to me.

yeah, it's not like Ubi wouldn't be making a profit off of some hard work. 3 million consoles is a lot of potential buyers, but only if the port is good quality

Actually I read that the Valve guys wouldn't speak on behalf of the EA guys because they are in charge of the PS3 version of the game. Granted they were only speaking of the online functionality of the game but still it's not a good sign when they won't speak about something that they are including in the Xbox and PC versions of the game. I believe it was on the IGN article about it...I won't link it cause of recent post deletions and moderation outlash.
EDIT: I think it was Team Fortress that it was about...which is included with the HL:2 Orange box.

Somewhat worried. If the ports continue to really suck I'm just not going to buy them, rent them, or even speak of them. I have a PC for Half Life 2, I can live without it on the PS3. If its good, I'll buy it, if not, I'll mock it.
Nice avatar pic.
Last time I check the main Valve team is working on HL2 Episode 2 and the ports are being made by 2 different groups, I am looking for confirmation of exactly who are this groups but in the recent Team fortress 2 interview they said that the next gen ports are indeed not made by central valve who is focus on making Episode 2 and it mentioned that the PS3 version is made by a group in Europe while 360 version is made by a group in the US
If anybody has a link to the interview it would be great since I cant seem to find it on Kotaku (were i read it)
I guess the quality of the port its up to the developers in this case that european team if they take their time to do it like guys from Oblivion did
Half life 2 is awesome and no matter what, it will still be awesome when it comes to the PS3Bloodcore77
People said that about Splinter Cell: DA

People said that about Splinter Cell: DA, and they were correct. I'm gonna stop dissing one of the best games out now and go do something more productive.
Awesome.Don't believe everything you hear about SC. I've beaten it on my buddies 360, and I'm halfway through it on PS3. The first two levels have MINOR framerate issues with the exception of 1 (one) time where it was blatantly noticeable. The lighting to me doesn't look all that bad, and the pictures they showed were complete bs.The_Rick_14

if that's the case someone should be gettin' sued over this, because it's their job to tell the truth, and not screw over people like that.

Well, I guess from now on I'll get the XBox 360 version of all games that are cross platform since they will all be half assed, dumbed down ports from the 360.
At least we'll still have all the great PS3 exclusives.
DSPX
Too bad for me I sold my 360. :( I'll take watered down ports...for now, they better step it up or I may stick to straight exclusives.
Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that the team thats working on the PS3 version of HL is good. What I don't get is that in the comparision video of FEAR the only difference I seemed to notice was that the PS3 version looked darker and thats it. But if you read Ign's review they say the PS3's version looks like crap compared to the other versions.
What the hells really going on? They take for ever to release these games and they still look like garbage, are they even trying to make these games look and run smooth on the PS3. Or did they just get them up and running and then held off on releasing them, waiting for a bigger user base. How long has some of these ports been in development there should be no reason for them to be as buggy and rushed looking.
we should list out companies that do all this horrid ports. i would start with ubisoft with their recent port, the next would be ea with their. we should not buy these title even you are a fan of the series. that would reflect in their bottom line, we consumer are heir boss, we feed these m**her F**ker.:x
