 How do you guys keep coming up with this stuff.  Nowhere in the article does it say anything about Sony losing anything or anyone else gaining anything.  Reading comprehension ftl.

Why does it matter if it goes over to xbox 360? Square enix is a 3rd party, and they just want to make sure they sell enough games with FF xIII.

Just because FF XIII is going to be multiplatform that doesn't mean same thing will happen with FF XIV and FF XV.

Relax...

Square isn't fighting at all. Their just being wooed by the Microsoft mating dance. Sony should be fighting to keep this. I would hate to see people on this forum start saying how much FF sucked and how the PS3 doen't need Square-Enix titles if this goes through. That would be sad.

Well it dosn't say PS3 gained or lost anything, but it does say,

"... As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

I don't own my PS3 yet, but I'd really like to see it take advantage of PS3's system capabilities.  I couldn't really see that happening until a game with a broad scope such as FF is developed to use every inch of capabilities in the system, and the more multi-platform games we see the more bland the gaming universe will become until I give up and buy a new PC for a clean frontier.

I own a 360 and a PS2, but I want PS3 to succeed because I want the market to keep progressing to make better and better games through competition.  (and I want a PS3 ;) )

However since FF has carried PS systems as an exclusive for soo long I can't imagine Sony ever letting them go without a fight if it ever comes to that.  (unless the head of sony cares as little about the PS3 as he appears to)  If it does go multi without changing the overall storyline or scope I fear that this console will be the end of the Sony's glorious run.  I really hope this dosn't happen as I've posted on the 360's forum (without MAC as competition windows would be even more buggy than it currently is)

Here's hoping the PS3 can hold its sales up until god of war 3, MGS4, tekken and other great titles can come to save the day (and until I get enough cash to upgrade my TV and buy one)

Honestly, that White Knight Story looks better than FF13. But seriously, I don't see a reason to become so pissy about this. I haven't seen the people cry a river when SquareEnix makes exclusive FF titles for the DS and Wii. Anyway, by how FF12 was, i'm honestly not too hype on how FF13 will be. 12 was kind of a disappointment in my book. More or so, Boring and too much crap added to make the game 60 hours. So when you play those 60 hours, You'll realize that 30 hours of it are just useless crap.

I'm gonna stop reading news about the PS3... I really am! WTF is this, talk about ways to make people think twice before buying a PS3 now at the PAL regions launch. Sony really needs to come out and start clearing some things up. Why oh why is this happening now?!

I kinda agree.. I played Final Fantasy XII alot when I first got it but then when I came down to the near middle part I just stopped. I got hella bored of the game and I never even play it.

Why is this shocking? The 360 has a much bigger installed base. Microsoft can offer alot more incentive to SquEnix. The PS3 is not the PS2....it's not dominant and just can't justify being the sole place for games this big. These companies still have to make a profit and keep the franchise going - so it has to ship on the leading console. I guarantee Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, and most likely both, will be on the XBOX 360. It's also very likely that at least one of these will be exclusive to the console.

I don't think final fantasy 13 will go multiplatform because sony knows that ff and games like metal gear solid will sell consoles, so they would likely pay for it to be exclusive to the ps3. As for devil may cry, it is a popular series but would I don't think people will rush out and buy the ps3 just for it. Hell, I will go buy go a PS3 when MGS4 and FFXIII comes out even if it costs me my left nut.

Sony should be fighting for their lives to keep this exclusive, and if they aren't then I'd be amazed. The thing is, Squeenix won't be releasing this until it's ready (say...2008/9?) so the fate of the consoles will be sealed by then so it will probably be an easy decision. So in other words, if the PS3 continues to flounder, it'll go multi-platform and vice versa if it picks up.

Konami pays Microsoft $5 to 11 for every game it makes for the 360. All Microsoft has to do is waive that fee and that money is pure profit to Konami......they don't have to pay to port the game on the PS3. That could be $20 to 30 million profit. After the price of porting the game, it would take a couple million in sales on the PS3 to return that much PROFIT (not revenue).

Being first on the market with the 360 gives Microsoft a ton of leverage......it's why the PS2 did so well with exclusives. This is why the PS and PS2 had all these games exclusive. It wasn't cause these companies love Sony or have some allegiance to the technology (the old XBOX was better/easier tech than the PS2....). Sorry, but that's just how the business works.

considering that neither FF game will be released until 2008, i think that gives Sony plenty of time to get a decent install base. The 360 got around 10 million in a year, who's to say that the PS3 can't do the same(or even more)?

If Square does this THEY'LL be the ones who are undone not Sony. You seem to forget last gen how many new games were made. This gen will be no different...backstabbin like that won't be forgotten by Sony and if they do it...it could have a serious backlash...remember the dayis comin when PS3's will be in tens of millions of homes...and they will have a userbase they allow other companies to pander to.

Very true.People tend to forget that Sony have the best first party games available, those games will sell Ps3's,as well as 2nd party games,as well as Blu-ray in it,etc.

Once the Ps3 is in about 30 million homes(By December next year),that's when Square,Sega, and Capcom(Oh look all Japanese companies!) will regret their actions.

This is just stupid....Haven't squre-enix been taking notes? Blue Dragon did how well in Japan? To tell you the truth, I don't think it's gonna do well in the states either becasue most xbox owners are into FPS, sports, and racing. The last time I checked FF11 didn't do so hot either on any system! Take a cue from Team Ninja and go with the system you intended on bringing the IP to in the first place. TN was quoted as saying that they think that whole, "we had to go multi-platform due to development cost thing is a lame a** excuse." I have to agree with them on that and if you focus on one system and put your all into it (sorry EA) then who knows you could be that next GTA that helps the sale of that particular console spike and that would make your company that much more the s**t the next time around and who knows you may very well get that next exclusive title payout that everyone wants. This water it down thing and make the controls specific to that console is not an idea of exclusive. Someone needs to be a man in the industry and stand up to this crap!  Hard work means a big payoff in the long run, hell lok at the NFL and other sports that look at the now but invests in the future. Has the industry become that greedy?
