I want a remake of legend of dragoon and FF 7 and 8 , if they do that and release themf or the PS3 , I would be quite glad :)Roushrsh
I doubt a remake of 8. FFVlll didn't have that much buzz around it. Legend of dragoon...meh. Chrono Cross & Xenogears are a must...along with FFVll.

Noooo...8 was pretty nice! I would definitely purchase the remake!

Personally, I'd like to see a FFVI remake. 'm playing it on the GBA and the game is just top quality. One of the best RPGs ever. It would be awesome if they remade it on the PS3. FF VII would be cool too. I'm more into taking old 2D rpgs and making them 3D.
Personally, I'd rather have new games, so this isn't such good news for me. Sure I'd love a FFVII remake, but that's about it :(Daxtermania
I agree, its cool to have a remake once in a while...but i would appreciate new games alot more...FF1 and xenogears remakes, now those would be sweet
For the record, Square-Enix didn't make Legend of Dragoon. Sony Computer Entertainment did. Which is good, because hopefully that means we'll never see a remake of that garbage.
At any rate, Square-Enix's current new business model is half good, half bad the way that I see it.
Focusing on bringing some remakes of older games, particularly with the technology available now, would certainly be a good thing. The idea of Final Fantasy VII with completely revamped graphics and audio, potentially with even more side-quests (as if there wasn't enough to do in the damn game already :D) makes me tingly. As does the thought of Final Fantasy VIII or, dare I say, Tactics.
The problem, however, is that the eye-and-ear candy is only going to go so far. No matter how much they update the graphics or audio, Final Fantasy IV is still Final Fantasy IV, and Final Fantasy VII is still Final Fantasy VII. Not to mention the fact that Square-Enix is over-saturating their own market. Seriously, how many damn re-releases of their old products do we need? They're on virtually every console, including hand-helds now, and they really need to put a little more focus on their market.
If Square-Enix released one complete anthology of their major works - e.g. Final Fantasy: Legacy Collection, or something, with Final Fantasy 1 all the way through...I don't know, IX, although they could fit every damn Final Fantasy release on one dual-layer Blu-Ray Disc...think about that for a moment :P - then I'd be all for it. Hell, I'd probably even pre-order it, which I never do. But it needs to be a definitive collection.
Aside from that, the idea of sequels or other works based on older Final Fantasy games, or other titles for that matter, need to actually, call me crazy...be good. Dirge of Cerberus is trash, and if that's what I can expect in the realm of sequels or expanded ideas on existing ideas, then count me out. What saddens me is that Dirge of Cerberus basically rode on the coattails of Final Fantasy VII. Had the game been made by any other company, but been exactly the same insofar as gameplay is concerned, it probably wouldn't have even done half as well as it did.
What I would like to see, though, is some attention put back on some titles that were solid but never saw much else. A new Parasite Eve, perhaps? Bushido Blade? Musashi? More Front Mission action?
Square-Enix has some variety under their belt, with varied results, but I think they need to focus more on that, and I'd be all for it. Instead of seeing Final Fantasy IV: Remake #5456426, let's see the first Parasite Eve III. Instead of Final Fantasy VII: Spinoff You'll Buy Even Though It Sucks, let's get another damn Vagrant Story.
Long-winded, but those are my thoughts. I'm just getting fed-up with the fact that Square-Enix is continually making money off remaking the same handful of games time and time again.
