Me and my friend(xbox360fan)were disscussing games and he said that square will use unreal engine for multiplatform games.i was very muched hyped about white engine(cg like gfx) but my freind said that it was not that good that is y they are using unreal for fututre games.

what do you guys think there can be 2 reasons

1. Square is using unreal because its going multiplatform

2.white engine is not that good as we hyped it and square will use unreal for games because it will lokk more beautifull.

(sorry for grammmar english is my 3rd or 4th language.this is old news but me and my freinds were discussing it yesterday)

this news is old now but they probably want to try and speed up the process a lil by using that instead of their white engine stuff.

Well they're talking about multiplats so they're just doing that so PS3/360 games are easier to make. FFXIII is definately using the White Engine... I think they spent millions making it they better do something with it.

Since White Engine was originally built ground up for the PS3 (orginally planned for PS2) Square licensed UE3 to make games for the 360/PC.

Oh and your friend is wrong about the White Engine not being good. It allows photo-realistic CGI to be rendered in real-time hence the reason many people cant tell the difference between the CGI and the real time images of FFXIII. It also handles advanced audio processing, cinematic cut-scene transition, physics effects calculations and special effects rendering.

Unreal engine is not as good as the White Engine. Other than that is already mentioned because UT3 is made to work on all platforms it can't take advantage of some of the individual consoles best features.

They licenced UE3 to speed up dev time, saves them spending cash and time making their own engines. Same reason most game devs buy engines vs make them.

O God what are you people talking about? White Engine is made for PS3, probably can't work properly or at all on 360. White Engine is used on both FF13 and FFVersus13. Those that think that late in development stage engine they will change engine are awfully wrong.

Unreal Engine is probably going to be used on Kingdom Hearts 3 that will be multi platform game.
