It depends. If Im watchin a dvd in bed at night I just stick it on standby and go to sleep.

If I'm using it through the day for gaming I'll turn it off at the switch.

I mostly put it on standby. Too lazy to flip the switch on the back.

Always Stand-by.

Thats what its made for.

Stand-By does not overheat your console at all.

my ps3 is cold as if i never even turned it on after a few hours on standby.

I leave it on stand by unless I know I'm not going to use it for weeks, which hasn't happened yet lol.

Stand-By, my reasons being:

1) I'm too lazy to go over to it and turn off the switch.

2) I wouldn't be able to get playing as fast whenever I get in the mood to play.

3) It's a habit from doing it on the PS2 since it's launch way back when.

4) My finally reason being, it tells me too in my sleep and if not it will kill my family :|. I think my PS3 has issues, but as long as I don't get on it's bad side it seems to take things in stride...except whn the power goes out, that makes it VERY angry.

Well I used to keep it OFF because I didn't want it my HDD to get messed by a power surge like people said, but now it's more in standby. I turn it OFF if i'm not going to use it for a while, but standby if im going to return in a couple of hours or so.

It's almost disturbing isn't it. However I must say that I do not have that connection with either of the other consoles of this gen. I knew they wouldn't know me like another Sony console :P.

Guys dont be dumb.. if you leave it on stand-by it wont overheat the system..

Why? CAUSE ITS ON STANDBY.

Between why Sony would design a system that when its on standby would overheat?

God...

I use to use standby but now I turn it off every time becuase every time my parents come into the room they press random buttons to try and turn it off. I don't want them fingering and messing around with my PS3 so I just do it myself now.
