Star Ocean Last Hope Yay or Nay?

I'm looking for a good JRPG and it seems like this has mixed emotions from those who have played it... but...

I enjoy a number of Anime shows so if the cineamtics are Anime worth I don't think I'll mind and...

I love Phantasy Star Online and this really seems to somewhat remind me of that game in visuals and maybe somewhat gameplay...?

Regardless, would you recommend it? Looks like it's about $40 from most everywhere I've looked

Or maybe there's another JRPG or RPG I could look into? I have Skyrim and stuff like that... was leaning towards a JRPG I guess

i wouldnt recommend it. its just so monotonous. i remember there was some small timing mechanic in the combat that TLH hung its hat on but there was no real incentive to not just ignore it spam attacks. the dungeons are large but empty, their intent mainly to get you going back to the repetitive combat. the side missions were either fetch quests with the same goal or explicit grinds that cut all pretension. to make things worse, the save points are separated by marathons so you cant even play in small doses.

Worst game I've ever played. How dare someone charge 40 dollars for that awful game.

I hate the game.

Lymle should down in gaming history as the most awful character.

Plus the protagonist is a little d-bag.

You could check out Nier. It starts out pretty slow and side missions are sh!t, but it's open world, has a good story, really good characters, and gameplay is decent.

Try Persona 3

I loved Nier. One of the most memorable experiences of this generation.

words cannot describe how much the game sucks , you dont want to find out for yourself , i could flush the money for that game down the toilet and it wouldnt make a difference

Buy Tales of Graces f, Nier, or you could wait until Tales of Xillia comes out next year. That's probably the only three that fit the JRPG category that are any good.

The only other RPG's we have are shooters, shooters, shooters, shooters, shooters, or action RPG hybrids.

Well that sucks. I was thinking about getting this game also eventually. I liked the psp ports and thought this was going to be a decent one too. At least you cant go wrong with the Tales games.
