If your buying it to dust off your psp a little, we're on the same boat, I havent played with my psp in monthsAgentA-Mi6
Yeah, I'm definitely in that boat, I always seem to spend my time playing my consoles...however, the PSP is the only place to play this game, so I figured I'd see if it was any good.
If your a Star Ocean fan, then this is obviously a must since it is a re-make of the first one. The grapics will probably be pretty well done as with the voice casting as well.
I just hope that they didnt switch up the gameplay mechanics to much. I had read somewhere that the battle engine is a slightly altered version of Star Ocean : The Second Story. I know there are a few new characters as well, secret or part of the story, im not sure.
all in all i bet it will be pretty good
I have the same and I've put about 20 hours into so far.. Ive never played any SO's before and i fell in love with it. The combat is kinda just button mashing but the skills and trade system makes up for it, theres just so much possibilities that you will have no idea who should put what into. The voice acting is great and the anime cut scenes are beautiful. The story is pretty good, but i agree with Gamespot as they say the characters don't have much depth. I haven't has to backtrack yet so i don't know how bad this is, but this game is not linear at all. The character models are cute and charming while the backgrounds are beautiful.
If you are in need of a good JRPG, this is a must have IMO.
I have played through the game in about 20 hours and I hate to say it this way, but it's kinda like a rip off version of tales of eternia (which I spent 60+hours on) THe battle system in both games is a lot alike, except that there are more techniques in tales of eternia.
My expectations were'nt satisfied with this game ....
