Hi, i just noticed that there's a startup disc pictured with the retail PSP, but i got mine yesterday and there was nothing of the sort :? I'm starting to think Newegg shafted me here, first 8 dead pixels and then missing items wtf? I read the manual and it also mentions "UMD software" :( What am i missing out on?

Iirc there was supposed to be a DEMO disc included with the US/UK value packs but as I got mine on import from play-asia.com (b4 they got SONY-stomped the...) I didn't get one :(

But you don't need a startup disc so don't worry about that. Where are your dead pixels btw? Are they black or white? If black they are dead, white they are probably just stuck and are usually only noticeable against black backgrounds (I've lived with mine for some time now...).

As i said to one of your earlier posts, I'm sure for more than 5 dead pixels you can claim a replacement... Correct me if I'm wrong.

that's a Demo disk that came with the Value Pack that doesn't come with the new PSP's anymore. Also if you buy PSP from gamestop and ebgames, they only let you exchange for a new PSP if it has more than 13 dead pixels....apparently they actually have that rule now. So if you don't get a warranty you won't be able to exchange it. I'm not sure about NewEgg...this is why i don't order consoles online....pain in the butt to exchange if there are problems.

With 8 dead pixels, you should return it.  I had to exchange two psps when I first got mine, because they had very noticable dead pixels.  The one I have now has two white pixels which I almost never notice unless the screen turns black.
