I have a highdef (1080i) tv and I have the HDMI--->DVI Cable going to my tv, but sometimes when I load games it has 2 seconds of a sort of glitchy static and colour thing and then its fine. It has happened a few (maybe 1 or 2 times) in game. When I'm watching the casino royale trailer, I also see a bit of static on daniel craigs face when its black and white. Anyone know whats going on?

don't worry!!

it's normal.

you know, its just like when changing from 50 hz to 60 hz

completely normal

-

it happens, cuz when it (the tv) changes form/size etc.it needs to find out what the input/output device is doing, you understand??

it's trying  to find out what kind of signal the ps3 is sending to it (still talking about the TV)

-

im not good at descriping things (since im not american, nor english)

the static your  seeing is just the HDMI "handshake" its just the TV ecognizing what the PS3 is outputting to.

okay, so i didnt waste my money buying the cable. one more Q about the cable, when I'm playing some games (e.g.Gran Turismo HD) there seems to be alot of moving pixels or something on things like fences, telephone wires, etc. I thought it might have been something to do with the cable, or is it because its 1080i, not 1080p..... the pixels seem to be on lines mostly, its hard to describe, but they sort of flow in a line, its not a glitch, its just.....hard to describe, if someone understands me and knows whats going on thanks

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've noticed stray pixels on the GT demo, BR movies, and the menu screens. It's most noticible on the menu because the letters look pixelated. If I go back into the system menu and reset the resolution to automatic it goes away and everything looks perfect again. But, I have to do that every time it happens and it happens every other time I turn on the PS3. I don't know if it just doesn't like my TV or what. It seems like a glitch and it is annoying. I've upgraded online so everything on the PS3 should be up to date. I have it set to 720p or 1080i and most of the time it's crystal clear. This does not happen with any of my other equipment. I'm not sure why it does it with the PS3 some times. For $600 I shouldn't be having ANY problems with the thing.

yeah, for me it only happens on the edges of things (the scoreboard on NHL 2k7, or the edges of boards around the rink) or fine details such as the car name in GT HD or parts of a gun in Call of Duty. The only problems I've had with blu-ray movies is like i said, the casino royale trailer, the gray face of daniel craig had a bit of static in it, but thats not really the same. I'll try the thing about reseting the resolution to automatic.

I find that 1080i actually is a bit crisper looking.

I have a 50" Hitachi LCD with an HDMI-->DVI connector and the only one of the things you listed that I've come across was the "handshaking" where the screen will get fuzzy for a second or two.  The other problems with the pixels and the fuzziness during blu-ray playback I haven't seen.

As far as 720p VS 1080i goes, I prefer 1080i but obviously have to use 720p a lot of the time...

720p is better for fast actions and large amounts of enimies onscreen for a smoother transition (i.e less chances of flicker or glitches) 1080i is better for crisper details in games and photos. 1080p = 1080i + 720p
