Looks like they may have gotten too warm and the poly melted some or something - I've seen that happen before.
Easiest solution I know of is to go to your local game store and pick up what are called "gel Tabz" I think they're made by MadCatz. They are gel covers with grippy nubs on them that go over your analog stick tops and give your thumbs better traction. They really are comfortable too. Around $5 a pair here in the US - not sure where you are.

I think its just grease and sweat from your hands. When I got a new controller the analog sticks felt different so I looked at the old controller and saw the grease on the analog sticks which must of been building for years but I never noted it before.monkeycheater
Then why did it only happen after I'd left my controller on it's tod for a week?

Well I didn't realize I had grease on my analog sticks until after I got a new controller, so I never realized for years. So maybe when you only realized it when you came back to it after a week.
